STALKER 2 or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a recently released post-apocalyptic survival RPG, launched on November 20, 2024, for PC and Xbox. Set in the post-apocalyptic open world of Zone, players explore the radiation-affected regions and encounter various deadly mutated creatures.

As you traverse the dangerous radioactive zone alone, your survival heavily depends on the weapons you carry with you. Unfortunately, they usually mess up at critical moments, especially during combat, due to their low durability. What exactly is weapon durability in STALKER 2, and how does it affect your gameplay? Let’s dig into more details.

How Weapon and Armor Durability Work in STALKER 2?

As mentioned above, your survival in Zone relies on your weapons and armor. So you should always carry the best weapon and armor to increase your chances of survival. A weapon’s durability and upgrade determine its effectiveness and reliability.

The durability indicates how long a weapon remains reliable and effective. Based on your weapon usage, the durability gradually decreases over time and loses its effectiveness. If your weapon’s durability level is low, it will break soon and deteriorate its performance. The same mechanism applies to armor too.

So you always monitor the durability level. Hovering over your weapons in the inventory indicates their durability bar:

  • Green: The weapon is in good condition.
  • Yellow: The weapon is nearing its breaking point and should be repaired or replaced soon.
  • Red: The weapon is broken and has lost its effectiveness.

How To Repair Weapon Durability in STALKER 2?

If you find your favorite weapon losing its durability, don’t worry, as it can be repaired to restore the durability level. Look for the Technician in major settlements such as Zalissya Bar. They can be located with the wrench icon on the mini-map. You can also look for any signs of screwdrivers and wrenches outside any building to locate them.

Take your weapons and armor to the Technician to repair them and restore their durability with a moderate amount of in-game cash. The cost of the repair is indirectly proportional to the durability level, as a weapon with low durability requires a higher cost to repair. Instead of repairing a weapon in its broken state, consider taking it to a Technician earlier (usually at yellow indicator level) to reduce the cost.

The durability level of a weapon also affects its upgrading and selling mechanisms. A low-durability weapon must be repaired before it can be upgraded or sold. You can also upgrade your weapons and armor by taking them to the Technician to increase their performance during combat and make them more effective.
