Learn how gliding works in Supervive, from avoiding fatal falls into the Abyss to mastering aerial combat and Spiking.

The fast-paced combat of Supervive spans three dimensions, and its vertical element becomes critical while battling over the Abyss. A single misstep while gliding across the Abyss will plunge a hunter into the depths and instantly kill them.
Even over regular terrain, accidentally gliding during combat can put players at a disadvantage. Understanding how the mechanics behind gliding work and factor into Supervive’s combat system can provide an edge over the ranked competition, especially in abyssal battles.

Supervive: How Gliding Works
Start gliding by holding the jump key (Spacebar) while your hunter is already jumping or falling. Jump and Glide actions are bound to the Spacebar by default, so pressing Spacebar while in mid-air opens the glider. Releasing the Spacebar will close the glider, and you will land on the ground.
Gliders generate heat upon being used. While a glider is open, a circle fills up, indicating the heat level. When the circle fills up completely, it turns red and the glider starts to burn, dealing damage to the player. Heat builds up faster when gliding through Storm Clouds on the Breach or while taking damage.
Gliding Combat
Taking damage while a glider is overheating will cause the hunter to become Spiked. They will be stunned and plummet to the ground. Getting Spiked over the Abyss is particularly devastating, as it will instantly kill the hunter, and their Deathbox will spawn next to their killer. To avoid getting spiked over the abyss, release the Glider briefly when an enemy fires at you.
How To Spike Enemies

To Spike an opponent, attack them while they are gliding. If you deal enough damage to overheat their glider, the hunter will be Spiked, leaving them vulnerable to follow-up attacks. Certain abilities like Kingpin’s Primal Slam can Spike enemies instantly.
Position yourself near chasms for Spiking and instantly killing hunters gliding over the Abyss. Fleeing across the Abyss is a great way to lure opponents to follow you over the chasm, only to be Spiked by your devastating attacks from afar.
You can also Spike opponents to gain an advantage when they are gliding over solid ground. Newer players often spam the jump button and end up gliding during fights, presenting you with the opportunity to Spike them. To avoid accidentally gliding mid-combat yourself, bind the Glide action to another key.
How To Glide Faster

Supervive has a physics-based movement system, which means you can preserve momentum while gliding. Use gliding in conjunction with mid-air dashes, jump pads, Relics, and consumables to preserve momentum and fly faster. Several characters, like Elluna and Kingpin, can perform mid-air dashes before gliding to gain speed rapidly. Gliding through Air Rings also provides a boost to speed.
Pressing the Glide button while falling below ground level and into the Abyss generates high vertical acceleration. As you get close to ground level, a decelerating force counters the built-up speed. Stop gliding while you are accelerating upwards to reduce glider heat buildup and preserve momentum. You can glide over the Abyss for longer using this method.
