Taog Ra Testimonial

Recently I ran into a friend of the site Taog Ra, who wanted some help with improving his damage both in and outside of Cyrodiil PvP.  I wanted to launch a new series called “pimp my build” and we tested this as a trial run.  Check out Testimonial Taog Ra and the results below.

I wouldn’t classify myself as any sort of “pro” or competitive gamer.  I’d rather say that I am extremely competitive with myself, and I am always trying to improve my character and mastering my game play.  My main is a VR14 Redguard (vampire) Nightblade.  It’s been a long road toward “end game” and I feel I still have a long way to go.  So the disclaimer up front is implied — The build is a constant work in progress and presently not worth publishing.  Somewhere along the way I became very dissatisfied with my character.  I’m just not the type to give up so easily.

Marathon Runners call it “the wall” and anyone familiar with physical training knows that at some point in time you’re going to hit it, and it prevents you from reaching your next level of performance.  In the case of my character, I was ready to explore veteran “end game” content months ago, but kept hitting that wall.  Unable to complete veteran dungeons or trials without a bag full of healing potions and an amazing group to carry me, and I’m the type of person who doesn’t like to rely on anyone else for any great length of time.  I had to find something out there on the internet to help me take my character and game play to that end game content level.

My objective was always to create a Nightblade that gave me that feeling of being able to stealth in, take down any single target I set my sight on, and then stealth up and fade away before being caught.  Playing a vampire Nightblade fits that concept perfectly.  It’s high risk, high payoff, but often can best be described as highly frustrating or a very humbling experience.  As I mentioned before, I found myself hitting that notional ‘wall’ that was blocking my progress toward being successful in end game content.  Days of frustration watching players of the other roles solo Craglorn content I could not turned into weeks, and ultimately turned into thoughts of putting my Nightblade on the shelf or converting it into little more than a stealthy mats collector and crafter.  That is, until I was introduced to deltiasgaming.com.

There is an amazing amount of quality work put into this website documenting his lessons learned and sharing his own efforts to constantly improve his game-play and ultimately his enjoyment of the game.  I was fortunate enough to get some direct contact support from Deltia recently, and I can safely say at this point that I’ve broken down that notional wall.  I’ve set new goals and gone back to improving my own game play and enjoyment of the game.

People are very familiar with the saying that “seeing is believing”.  Have a look at the results I’ve had following Deltia’s tips and tricks for improving my Nightblade build in 1.6 and beyond.

Craglorn_10k_DPS_BEFOREBefore, I was V14, and frustrated with low damage output from a hybrid magicka-stam build.  I spent too many hours, too many soul gems and too much gold in armor repairs to really enjoy any end game content when playing solo or even with small groups in PvE or PvP.  My DPS was inconsistent and ranged between 4-7k.  After improvements I found on Deltia’s website I was able to reach 8-10k DPS.

After working more closely with Deltia in an off camera “Pimp my Build” session, and following additional advice that can be found at deltiasgaming.com, my character feels like a Nightblade should to me.  It “hits like a truck”.  I can solo some content in Craglorn I couldn’t even dream of completing prior to 1.6, and I no longer have any real reservation about taking on Dragonknights, Templars or Sorcs in PvP.  Since then, I’ve seen a drastic improvement and more consistency in DPS with numbers ranging from 10-15k, at times I’ve seen FTC DPS reports of of 17k+ when I have Ultimate charged.  Obviously my enjoyment of the game and this character in particular has improved dramatically as well.

Craglorn_17k_DPS_AFTERI’m still making tweaks and improving, but there you have it.  Deltia’s tips and tricks for pimping your build are all right there on the website, and they work.  I hope you take some time and adopt those things that will work for you and fit your play style.
