The First Berserker: Khazan by Nexon is a new action-adventure game developed by Neople. It is a Souls-like title that brings an interesting dynamic with its anime-inspired visuals. Nexon revealed Khazan to the wider audience in the 2024 Game Awards, and after that, they announced that the game will be published on March 27, 2025.

Gamers have been eager to know about the combat mechanics of this new title, and fortunately the developers have come out and shared some details with the community regarding it. So this article will talk about everything you need to know about First Berserker: Khazan’s combat system.

Everything You Need To Know About First Berserker Khazan’s Combat

Nexon has recently shared a detailed overview of the combat mechanics of First Berserker Khazan. From basic stamina management to some enemy variety, we will talk about it all.

The first thing that is quite evident from the reports we have is that attacking, dodging, and blocking will be the three essential pillars of First Berserker Khazan. In addition to that, the game will have a stamina bar similar to the Souls games, which you will have to constantly manage during fights to defeat your enemies. Blocking will consume more of your stamina and dodging, but in the earlier stages, it is a more effective way of protecting yourself from your enemies while you try to understand their attack patterns.

Additionally, if you block just before the enemy lands its attack, then it will count as a perfect block and will take less of your stamina. But of course, a dodge will consume even less of your stamina bar; however, it will require quick reflexes and a good understanding of the enemy’s attacks.

The First Berserker: Khazan takes heavy inspiration from the Souls trilogy and is naturally similar to it. Stamina management is the most crucial part of the combat. If Khazan runs out of Stamina, he will become exhausted and vulnerable to any incoming attacks. But there will be many enemies who’ll rely on their stamina and will have to abide by the same mechanic.

This adds an interesting dynamic to the gameplay because you can now try to force the enemies to deplete their stamina and then attack them quite easily. But if the opponent focuses more on blocking your attacks, then one good hit could exhaust their stamina bar and leave them vulnerable.

Other than the stamina-based enemies we discussed just now, First Berserker: Khazan will also have many fortitude-based monsters. These enemies will not have a stamina gauge and will be much more resilient. So, you will have to use a different method to exhaust them.

The only way that works against this kind of foe is to exhaust their fortitude with your own attacks. Naturally, they will be more difficult to deal with compared to the stamina-based enemies, but they will also reward strategy, patience, and a focused approach. Now let’s talk about how you can make the most out of their stunned state.

After the enemies enter their state of exhaustion, you can do some heavy damage with the Brutal Attacks featured in the game. However, these kinds of attacks require a lot of your stamina bar, so it will be quite a behemoth task to stun the enemies while maintaining such a high level of your stamina.
