Twitch streamer and political commentator Hasan Piker aka “HasanAbi” (2.7 million followers) has become one of the most contentious names in the online community. The streamer has recently been called out by multiple individuals following some of his comments. Hasan is known for his far-left stance and has voiced his concerns over the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel. While many have shared this sentiment, some of Hasan’s takes have caused backlash.

For instance, U.S. Congressman Ritchie Torres recently shared a clip from one of HasanAbi’s streams. The streamer was heard, seemingly dismissing the sexual violence that occurred on October 7, 2023 (referring to the Hamas attack). The streamer had said this:

“Doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter if f**king rapes happened on October 7th. Like, it doesn’t change the dynamic for me even this much. So, that’s the other part of this problem that many people that can’t contend with. Like… the Palestinian resistance is not perfect.”

Ritchie Torres shared the clip, condemning Hasan’s words. He accused the streamer of “popularizing antisemitism.” He wrote:

“A social media influencer who openly defends the rape and mass murder of Jews is not only accepted but celebrated in our society. What does that reveal about the depth of antisemitism in the American soul? If America believes Jewish lives matter, then Americans should stop popularizing influencers who popularize antisemitism.”

HasanAbi Responds To Ritchie Torres’ Call-Out Post

After Congressman Ritchie Torres called out HasanAbi, a fan page on X.com (@HasanabiProd) posted a longer clip of the video he shared, claiming the original post misrepresented the context. In the extended clip, Hasan states that rapes did occur but argues that this does not justify Israel’s actions.

Hasan urged his fans to flock to Torres’ post and add a context (Community Note) to it. He said:

“Go f**king slap a context note under Ritchie Torres’ tweet, if you can…Torres is f**king insane. He is a psychopath. He is vicious.”

Ritchie Torres has since seen this response and made a further tweet regarding the issue. He clapped back at HasanAbi, telling him to “take a look at himself in a mirror. He wrote:

“Hasan should take a long hard look in the mirror. The rape apologia of Hasan—his insistence “that it doesn’t matter if rape happened on October 7th”—is insane, vicious, monstrous, and psychopathic.”

HasanAbi also spoke out against Ritchie Torres and others who have labeled him antisemitic. He reiterated that he does not condone antisemitism, describing it as a hate crime. He said:

“I will always call out antisemitism. It’s gross, it’s immoral. It is a hate crime. There is no space for anti-semitism. So when I hear from those who have never even cared about anti-semitism, coming in here, to use it to deploy it cynically and to say this nasty thing to someone like myself and to others who are simply calling for the emancipation of Palestine, Ilose my f**king mind.”
