There are a total of 10 playable characters in the No Return mode for The Last Of Us Remastered. Ellie is one of the two playable characters from the beginning. Let us take a look at Ellie’s character in the No Return mode.
No Return takes a unique approach when it comes to unlocking characters. It’s a rewarding journey as you unlock people with more playtime rather than having to pay for it. After starting your play with Ellie and playing a certain number of encounters, you unlock Dina. Now, when you do the same with Dina, you unlock Jesse, followed by Tommy and finally, Joel.
This chain of events creates more hype to play the mode. You get access to one of the most beloved characters in the game when following suit.
Ellie’s Character Playstyle in Last of Us 2, No Return Mode
Ellie is the main character around whom the entire franchise revolves. Ellie has had one of the most complicated lives with a saddening backstory. This, in turn, forces difficulty when it comes to associating with or trusting anyone. It was only after traveling with Joel that she was able to go a bit easier on herself. Through the path of their journey, she learned to trust again.
Ellie begins her round with a semi-auto pistol, a Molotov, and a recipe to create more Molotovs. She is the only character in No Return to start with two separate working benches. What makes Ellie truly unique is her ability to hold 4 different upgrade bench paths. Her original upgrade path is Perseverance, while the other three are chosen at random, making her a force to reckon with.
Perseverance Upgrade Bench for Ellie’s Character in No Return
The Perseverance upgrade bench is a series of three stages. With every other stage, you get to enhance the perks of Ellie, giving her a major step up in the play and increasing her odds of winning. Let us look at the different stages in this upgrade path:
- Improved Molotovs: In the first stage, the effectiveness of your Molotovs is increased substantially by 50% of an increased radius. This helps take down a larger group of enemies or clickers in the same radius.
- Improved Health Kits: The second stage helps Ellie get back on the battlefield with a higher portion of her health restored. She gets 50% more healing from a health kit than the other characters.
- Endure: The last stage is one of the strongest perks in the game and gives off main character energy in abundance. When struck with lethal damage, which could otherwise end your round, you escape with a low bar of health to live to fight another day.
