The Last of Us 2 Remastered PC: Manny Character Guide (No Return)

The No Return game mode brought a breath of fresh air to the franchise while still sticking to its roots. In this game mode, you get to choose a character and fight your way through a series of different encounters. In this article, we will look at Manny’s character and what his special skills and buffs are.

No Return is a roguelike game mode, which means any upgrades or inventory purchased during the run would be discarded upon completion or death during the encounter. The fact that you get to play characters other than the original playable trio of Ellie, Joel, and Abby makes the game mode all the more immersive.

Manny is the final unlockable character in Abby’s path. As Abby, you are first required to complete two encounters to unlock Lev. Then, choose Lev and complete three encounters to unlock Yara. After completing three encounters with Yara, you get Mel, and finally, four encounters with Mel will unlock Manny.

Manny’s Character Playstyle in The Last of Us 2 No Return Mode

Manny proves to be an absolute tank of a character to play with in this game mode. His unique abilities include having a 50% higher chance to gain more parts for upgrades, as well as 50% more health than the rest of the characters. His starting gear includes a semi-automatic rifle, the recipe to make ammunition for it, and a hunting pistol with three available shots. While these skills and weapons could easily be enough to characterise Manny as a buffed character, there is a downside. He is the only character in the game who does not have a recipe to create health kits.

Manny will still be able to buy the health kits from the trading post. You will need to keep enough supplies to buy it and hope the trading post is selling the item when he visits.

Munitions Upgrade Bench for Manny’s Character in No Return

Manny uses the munitions upgrade bench. This upgrade bench caters to his already existing hunting pistol and a shotgun, if you are lucky enough to scavenge one during the round. This upgrade bench includes four stages, unlike the usual three-stage ones.

1. Craft Hunting Pistol Ammo: The first stage gives you a skill which will allow you to create two ammos for the hunting pistol.
2. Craft More Hunting Pistol Ammo: In this stage, the skill now allows you to create two to three ammo for the same gun.
3. Craft Incendiary Shells: In this stage, you get to craft two incendiary shotgun shells. These, when fired, will deal heavy damage in the area and set the enemies on fire. Stages three and four will only be useful when you find a shotgun during the encounter.
4. Craft More Incendiary Shells: The last stage will allow you to craft two to three shells while holding a total of six at any given time.
