Alien Isolation is one of the most underrated games of all time. The game was severely misunderstood on release and was negatively rated as a result. However, over the course of the decade, the game has formed somewhat of a cult around itself. Fans and non-fans have done a complete 180 on the game, growing an appreciation for the level design, AI, story, and much more.

With love pouring in from all over for Alien Isolation, coupled with the release of Alien Romulus, the game became more popular than ever. Capitalizing on the hype, developer Creative Assembly finally announced the sequel. With a decade gone by, and with state-of-the-art technology at hand, we cannot wait to see what Creative Assembly has in store for us with the sequel.

Still, we have our own wishlist of things that we’d love to see in Alien Isolation 2. In this article, we shall go over five things that we’d love to see from Alien Isolation 2.

1) An Improved AI

The AI of Alien Isolation was ahead of its time and still stands the test of time over a decade later. However, as good as it may be, it tends to fall back on a few patterns that make it predictable. For instance, if you stay for too long in any area, the Alien will drop in to make things difficult. As a result, you always knew that the Alien was going to drop in. With the sequel, we’d love to see them take a different approach to this. Have the creature be unpredictable by making its drops random. Make it so we never know when the creature will show up, and put the fear of god in us.

2) Side Missions

The original game throws us deep into a large spaceship, the Sevastopol. Now, while this ship is vast, there is very little going on in terms of actual content. You’re just moving from area to area, avoiding the Alien while scavenging for resources. We want the sequel to add side quests, so players have an additional incentive for exploring. This could add to the risk-reward scenario. Do you take on this side quest to help the NPC at the risk of being screwed over by the Alien? The possibilities are endless, and we’d love to see Creative Assembly’s take on side quests.

3) No More Ripley

Before you lift the pitchforks, we’ve had enough of Ripley’s representation in Alien media. The movies cover enough of Ellen Ripley, and her narrative arc is all but fulfilled. Amanda, too, sees her story come to a solid conclusion in Alien Isolation where she finally completes her search for her long-lost mother.

Now, we’d love to see new stories in the Alien media with new protagonists. As much as the game ends on a cliffhanger, the story and scares wouldn’t work as well with Amanda anymore. She’s brave and has slowly learned to deal with the Alien. We need a new character who is unfamiliar with the creature to bring that same sense of fear back to the game.

4) Interactive Environments

The Sevastopol station is absolutely gorgeous but severely lacks in terms of interactivity. With Amnesia: The Bunker, we now have a template for how we want the levels in Alien Isolation 2 to be. In Amnesia: The Bunker, you’re given several choices to deal with any area. Oh, the door is locked? I could find the key, or I could also use this grenade I have to open the door at the risk of attracting the monster. We want the same with Alien Isolation 2, where we can deal with levels in multiple ways using the tools at our disposal and with effective consequences for the ways we choose.

5) More Aliens

Lastly, we want more Aliens! Really, it’s that simple. More Aliens, more Xenomorphs, different types of Aliens too. Give us the Deacon, the Neomorph, the Protomorph, and more. Maybe even an original design exclusive to Alien Isolation 2? We’d love to see variety. We’d also love to see more of these creatures on screen at the same time. The original Alien Isolation has a brief moment towards the late game where you can encounter two Xenomorphs at once. We want the sequel to tinker around with this idea and give us the scare of a lifetime.
