Popular streamer and veteran gamer Ben “CohhCarnage” has voiced his opinions on Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The streamer stated that he finds the story and its delivery “lacking.” Cohh also criticized the game’s animations, calling them disappointing. He mentioned that the open-world design was “gorgeous,” while the combat was “just fine.”

CohhCarnage is known for his gameplay streams on Twitch, where he has also played recent popular games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The streamer also praised the base-building mechanics:

“All done with @assassinscreed Shadows. It’s fine. It’s more AC but tbh I found the story and delivery (especially the animations) incredibly lacking. The world is gorgeous though and the combat, although standard AC simplicity, felt just fine. Cool base building mechanics tho!”

CohhCarnage started streaming on Twitch in 2013, making him a veteran on the platform. He has over 1.6M followers on the platform and has built a loyal fanbase. Apart from his streams, Ben is also popular on YouTube, with over 542K subscribers across two channels. The streamer was also the most popular channel on Twitch for Avowed gameplay.

Throughout his AC Shadows gameplay, the streamer encountered several bugs and glitches. Although he mistook a feature for a bug, the streamer did see a glitched animal during his run.

“I think we just saw a racoon t-pose, pretty sure that just happened.”

What Else Did CohhCarnage Say About Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Apart from discussing the usual game mechanics, the streamer also addressed the issue of microtransactions. Notably, microtransactions have been present in the game for a while, including Helix Credits and other cosmetic items. However, the game also allows players to purchase certain in-game items through transactions.

CohhCarnage expressed his disapproval of companies that implement microtransactions for in-game resources, stating that they negatively impact the gameplay experience. He also hinted that he might eventually stop playing games that heavily feature such transactions.

“Also the older I get, the less I want to support companies that put cash shops where you can just buy in the in-game resources in the game. There is absolutely no way the gameplay isn’t affected by these decisions. Eventually I’m just going to start skipping those games.”

The streamer also stated that he was done with the game due to its repetitive nature. Ben mentioned that the game does not have any interesting characteristics to keep him playing. While replying to a user on X, Cohh stated:

“Oh I didn’t finish it. I’m just done with it. It’s not doing enough new things (or has interesting enough gameplay/characters/story) to keep me interested.”
