Umamusume Pretty Derby: Debuffer Build Guide

Learn how to build debuffing racers optimally in Umamusume: Pretty Derby by combining red skills and smart strategy.

Red skills in Umamusume: Pretty Derby debuff other racers by draining their stamina, reducing their velocity, or limiting their vision. While debuffing opponents in Career mode isn’t very effective, the same strategy gains new purpose in Team Trials. Players can include one debuffer in certain racing teams to place the opposing team at a disadvantage while your ace runners secure the victory. 

Debuffing Build in Umamusume: Pretty Derby

Although the debuffing build seeks to create a veteran uma focused on accumulating red skills, she still needs to place well in races. If even one of your umas places below 5th in a Team Trials race, it leads to an overall loss of score for the entire team. To ensure that this does not happen, the debuffing uma should have solid base stats with a few non-debuffing skills to make up for any deficiencies.

Distance 

Medium and Long-distance events are ideal for debuffers. They can make a dent in opponents’ health with stamina-draining skills before reducing their velocity on the critical final corner. Here are the stats to aim for in either event:

Running Style 

Late Surger is the best running style for training a debuffing character. Several red skills target runners ahead, and Late Surgers are well-positioned to use them. Additionally, the running style has the most efficient stamina-to-health conversion rate, advantageous for Medium and Long distance races. 

Debuffing Skills 

The best debuffing skills are the ones that reduce velocity and drain stamina. They should ideally target Front Runners and Pace Chasers. These include:

• Stamina Eater
• Subdued Front Runners
• Flustered Front Runners
• Hesitant Front Runners
• Hesitant Pace Chasers

Although she doesn’t have any debuffing skills of her own, Gold Ship can serve as a blank canvas for your build. She has good Medium and Long distance capabilities and can even run viably as an End Closer.
