Learn how to unlock Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s frame rate and increase it above 30 FPS while implementing resolution scaling.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a popular racing simulator that transports players to Tracen Academy, where they train horse girls to race in Career Mode and Team Trials. The game boasts an in-depth racing system, stylized visuals, and a rewarding progression system.
However, one of the biggest pitfalls of Umamusume: Pretty Derby is its frame rate lock. The game is limited to 30 FPS in menus as well as during races. With both PC and mobile users accustomed to frame rates above 60 FPS, such a low frame rate cap can appear rather jarring. While there is no official way to uncap the frame rate to get more than 30 FPS, there is an alternative worth considering to improve your visual experience.
Note: The solution suggested below is not officially supported by Cygames. Only proceed to implement it after understanding the risks, if any.
How To Get More Than 30 FPS in Umamusume Pretty Derby

The best way to unlock the frame rate in Umamusume: Pretty Derby is to use the Hachimi mod. The mod, originally made for the Japanese version, has been successfully adapted for the global release. It was initially designed to translate the Japanese version to English but also has a built-in GUI.
The Hachimi mod’s GUI supports resolution scaling and FPS unlock, allowing you to make full use of your device’s hardware specs. The mod fully supports the global release and its PC version. The Android version of the mod doesn’t work reliably at the time of writing.
To find the mod, search for “Hachimi mod Umamusume: Pretty Derby.” You can go to their website or the GitHub page to download the installer. The mod’s developers discourage linking to their website directly, as they want to stay under the radar, fearing a crackdown from Cygames. Despite the secrecy, the mod is safe to use, and no users have reported being banned or losing any save data because of it.
How To Install the Hachimi Mod
Download the installer from the “Releases Page,” which is linked on the Hachimi website’s “Getting Started” section, under Installation > Global > Windows. Run the installer with default settings and launch the game.
Alternatively, download the “hachimi.dll” file from the releases page, and rename it to “winhttp.dll,” “version.dll,” or “opengl32.dll.” Then, paste the file into the game’s install directory.
How To Use the Mod to Uncap FPS
When you run the game after successfully installing the mod, a welcome message will greet you in a dialog box. Close the box and skip the translation feature.
- Use the right arrow key (→) to open the Hachimi menu.
- Select “Open config editor.”
- Set “vsync_count == 1.” This matches the game’s frame rate to your monitor’s refresh rate.
- Alternatively, you can manually set the FPS with “target_fps.”
- For monitors with a resolution higher than 1080p, use “resolution_scaling: ScaleToScreenSize.”
- Close the GUI overlay to play the game.
