Creating a winning streak in Team Trials requires forming a strategy for each race category, with a few adjustments to boost the winning bonus.
Umamusume Pretty Derby: Team Trials Training Guide

General Tips
- Prioritize speed training above all.
- Train just enough Stamina to finish the race at top speed.
- Sprint: 400
- Mile: 600
- Medium: 800
- Long: 1000
- Rare Stamina recovery skills like ‘Swinging Maestro’ bring down requirements by 100-200 points.
- Pace Chasers and Late Surgers need a greater emphasis on Power than Front Runners.
- Buy skills that will be effective for your uma’s running style.
- Final corner and last spurt skills are universally good. Learn their rare versions where possible.
- Learn skills that make up for lacking stats in your build.

Team Structure

- Each sub-team for every race category should have members with different running styles.
- Two members with the same running style get in each other’s way.
- They compete for the same good positioning bonuses, decreasing the overall score from the race.
- The “Ace” of each team should be the one most likely to win the race.
- The first slot on a sub team determines the Ace.
- Aces receive an additional score multiplier.
- All of your team members should place within the top five in their race for a considerable bonus score.
- Lower ranking or debuffing umas who can’t place within the first five will harm the potential team score.
Troubleshooting

Before overhauling your PvP team, play a few rounds of Team Trials and watch the replays of races you think you should have won based on stats. Here are some common problems your veteran umas may be facing:
- Losing ground on the final stretch to an opponent’s uma despite having superior speed
- Your uma is likely running out of Stamina before the end of the race. Train Stamina just enough to complete a race or supplement it with good recovery (blue) skills.
- Her Power stat might be too low. Power ÷ 2 = Speed gain per second. If you have 1000 Speed and 200 Power, it will take 10 seconds to reach top Speed.
- Front Runner losing the lead position early in the race despite having superior Speed and Power
- Higher Guts determines the outcome of a duel between two Front Runners for first place early on. Guts also provides a Speed boost when dueling during the final spurt. 400+ Guts should be more than enough to gain an advantage since most players don’t train the stat.
- Pace Chaser and Late Surger failing to maintain good positions going into the final corner, getting stuck in the pack
- Wits can help an uma determine favorable positions; Guts helps her win duels to take over positions mid-race. Training Wits and Guts to 400+ reduces such errors. A high Power stat and positioning skills, such as “Nimble Navigator,” can help brute-force through the pack.
- Skills not activating
- 400+ Wit raises the probability of successful skill rolls to a high level. Overtraining Wit isn’t helpful since skill activation probability can never reach 100%.
