Umamusume Pretty Derby: How To Win URA Finale in Career Mode

Preparation for Career Mode
Half of the work needed for a successful career is done before it even starts. The correct selection of Legacies and Support Cards provides massive advantages and key skill hints to your uma.
Legacies

Picking the right legacies can provide a massive boost to your uma’s career early on. Choose legacies that provide a large buff to stats, have synergizing skills, and increase the aptitude of a race type that your trainee lacks. If you are new, you won’t have your own veteran uma to rely on for this role. However, you can use veteran uma raised by other players.
Friend Legacy
Head to the menu tab on the home page and select “Friends.” Navigate to the “Recommended” tab. Here, browse the profiles for the legacy pick you are looking for. Find one that has reached at least a “B” Rank and has skills you are interested in, and follow the player who owns it. Now, select the same veteran uma in the “Friends” tab of the legacy selection box.
Support Cards
The selection of Support Cards is contingent on your trainee’s running style and the race distances she will be facing during her career. For example, a trainee running shorter races in the Front Runner Style benefits from choosing three Speed Support Cards.
However, since you will likely be facing a variety of events, it’s better to choose a balanced deck.
- 2 Speed
- 1 Stamina
- 1 Power
- 1 Wit
- 1 Friend Card
If you plan to min-max into Speed, pick:
- 3 Speed
- 1 Stamina
- 1 Wit
- 1 Friend Card
Training Speed provides an increase in Power. So the Power support card can be skipped for this build. Whatever combination you build, remember to always have at least one Speed and one Wit support card. This is because Speed is universally important across all categories, and you will be training Wit to recover energy and improve skill activation.
Friend Support Card
As with Legacies, you can select a support card offered by any of your friends or players you follow. If you don’t already have them, the best support cards you need to choose in this category are:
- Fine Motion
- Super Creek
If you get Super Creek, be sure to unlock and use her popular ‘Swinging Maestro’ skill during your career.
Levelling Up Support Cards
Level up all the support cards you are using to the max. Their level is usually capped at 25 or 30, but don’t concern yourself with that just yet. Your starting funds should be more than enough to max out five Support Cards to their cap. To level up a Support Card:
- Head to the “Enhance” menu by clicking its tab on the bottom left side of the main menu.
- Select Support Cards > Level up.
- Max out all the Support Cards you intend to keep in your deck.
Training Your Umamusume

As the career begins, you can begin training your selected uma to win in all of her goal races. Before you can focus on optimizing the trainee’s stat distribution, increase the friendship bonds with all support cards to unlock friendship training.
Train any stat that has three or more Support Cards on it. Do this until Support Cards reach a tier four bond level and their bar turns orange. Once fully bonded, the cards will have a rainbow circle around them.
Here are some general training rules and tips to keep in mind:
- Train Speed with priority, as a high-speed stat is at the center of any successful build.
- Keep your uma in a Great Mood as it significantly improves training bonuses and race performance. Use Recreation as a reliable mood booster if you don’t have support cards with mood-increasing events.
- Train Wit for recovering energy, especially if there are Support Cards on it.
- If you have enough Support Cards with energy-recovering events, the need to rest decreases significantly.
- Do not risk training failure. Failing causes a decrease in stats and mood, and can end your run if it strikes at the wrong time. If the chance of failure is above 30%, consider Wit training, resting, or recreation.
- As a new player, refrain from participating in too many additional races beyond the goal races. Races will take a turn to complete and can decrease your trainee’s energy and mood. Every turn is precious on the road to your first URA Finale win.
- Spec into at least one stamina recovering skill (blue) that works on any track and with your running style.

Ultimate Build Goal

As you train, have a build goal in mind for the upcoming races. Check the next goal race and determine which stats need the most work to win it. Here is a generally good stat distribution to achieve before the URA Finale:
Race Distance | Speed | Stamina | Power | Wit | Guts |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Short | 1000+ | 300+ | 400+ | 400+ | 300+ |
Mile | 900+ | 450+ | 500+ | 400+ | 300+ |
Medium | 800+ | 600+ | 500+ | 400+ | 300+ |
Long | 750+ | 800+ | 400+ | 400+ | 300+ |
The importance of the Power stat varies widely depending on your racing style. Late Surgers and End Closers in particular need to be powerhouses to make overtakes through the entire pack in order to reach the front.
