Uncover the secrets of alliances in Sea of Thieves! Get tips on collaborating with other crews for unforgettable pirate experiences
Sea of Thieves offers plenty of fun, adventure, and action for solo players. However, to unlock the game’s true potential, you have to become part of pirate alliances. There are several benefits when you are in an alliance versus when you play alone.
Here, we will outline what alliances are, how you can join these alliances in Sea of Thieves, and what they have to offer.
What Are Alliances in Sea of Thieves?
Before you can become a part of an alliance, you first need to understand what it entails. An alliance is a game mechanic that allows ships on a server to come together under one pennant flag and share the gains after selling treasure. Members of an alliance can see all other ships sailing under the same alliance on their maps.
However, keep in mind that the alliance only exists in the session where it has been created. So, you cannot carry forward any of an alliance progress into your next play session.
How Can You Join Alliances in Sea of Thieves?
If you want to join an alliance, follow the steps mentioned below.
- Step 1: Find a ship that has an ‘Offer Alliance’ flag set up.
- Step 2: Climb into your ship’s Crow’s Nest and open the flag box. Choose the ‘Offer Alliance’ flag.
- Step 3: Sail close to the ship you spotted in step 1 and change your ‘Offer Alliance’ flag to ‘Join Alliance’ when the option comes.
This will let you join an alliance in Sea of Thieves. Later, if you want to end the alliance, head back to the Crow’s Nest and select the ‘Leave Alliance’ option from your flag box.
Why You Should Join Alliances
An alliance provides a wide range of benefits in Sea of Thieves. These are:
- When you sell loot, you get to keep the full amount, but other members in the alliances also receive 50% of the sale amount.
- Any Voyages in your Voyage Table will be reflected in the Voyage Table of your alliance members, and vice versa.
- You can revive any alliance members who have fallen in combat when you are on board their ships.
However, keep in mind that alliance members can still attack you. So, do not trust them blindly and always keep an eye open to avoid betrayals.
