REPO is a game easy to learn yet hard to master, especially during the later part of the game. Based on cooperation to complete objectives, deal with entities, and successfully extract while managing the finances of your entire group, REPO has a looping system where the objective is the same, but the game will make it harder at every level.

Basics of REPO

This guide will try to keep things spoiler-free in terms of lore and entity encounters (except for some images). Let us talk about the basics of REPO.

Objectives

REPO begins with you, your friends, and an extraction vehicle on a map. You and your buddies will have to scavenge for loot and take the items to the extraction point to get paid. There is a minimum amount that is to be paid for each level to complete it. Items vary from small and valuable but brittle to big and expensive but require more members of your team to carry.

Entities

When you look for these treasures around the map, your handy gravity gun helps you look inside containers, open doors, and more. During the hunt, you will encounter entities that spawn at random in different locations around the map. These entities are sometimes just roaming around rooms and hallways or actively seeking you and your friends. Enemies react or don’t react at all to sound, visuals, and objects around the world.

This game has a physics system that makes all the objects of the world obey Newton’s inventions, including you! You can accidentally knock your friends or destroy them. However, using the gravity gun, you can also carry, toss, or store them inside spaces that entities cannot access. The gravity gun is an important tool in the game that is best when you get used to the game’s physics.

Game Mechanics

These are some important things you should know about the game and its mechanics.

How Objects and Items Work in REPO

Items such as vases and glass are very easy to destroy, making it risky to carry around enemies or friends. Items in the game, if thrown towards you, deal damage. The same goes for enemies as well. You can toss objects to stun entities and sometimes even eliminate them.

Objects have a certain value that is marked when you put your crosshair on it. These objects can be carried to the extraction vehicle that is provided to you at the beginning of each level.

The Service Station

Once you complete level 1, you will be brought to the service station, a hub area where items and upgrades re-roll every visit while becoming more expensive at every level. The service station basically lets you purchase upgrades such as strength, speed, health, and more.

These upgrades can be one-time-use or permanent, the most important upgrades being weapons. Guns, inflatable hammers, a luxury frying pan, and more. But the way weapons work in REPO is a bit different.

Using Weapons

Once you buy a weapon, you will notice they have a battery icon. This icon indicates how long the weapon will be useful. For example, the frying pan will work for 12-15 minutes in the game, before asking for a recharge.

The recharge can be done using the charge station in the truck with the help of energy crystals. For about $7,000 to $9,000, you have to buy energy crystals from the service station and drop them in the charge station to recharge your weapon.

Conclusion

Basically, REPO is a game similar to Lethal Company, but it also contains some rogue-like elements such as the service station re-roll mechanic to make the gameplay more reactive and not planned. Find items, avoid or eliminate entities, extract and, more importantly, survive!
