The newest Yakuza spin-off is almost here. Here is where Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii falls in the Yakuza timeline.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is the newest game in the Like a Dragon series by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. It is set to be released on February 21, 2025. It is a spin-off game that is part of the Gaiden series, the second game in the series after Like a Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Whereas The Man Who Erased His Name was a spin-off of Like a Dragon: Yakuza (the seventh game in the main series), Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a spin-off of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Here is where Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii takes place in the Yakuza timeline:
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Chronological Placement
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is the latest game in the series chronologically, taking place 6 months after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
It follows the story of the recurring side character Goro Majima after he has lost his memory. He wakes up on a place called Rich Island. Majima then gets roped into a pirate adventure on the seas of Hawaii, searching for treasure and clashing with scallywags all the while.
Where Did Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth End Off?
The last time we saw Majima was in Infinite Wealth, where he assisted the series’ former main protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, and his allies Seonhee, Nanba, Saeko, and Zhao in Kiryu’s final battle at the Millennium Tower.
Majima, his sworn brother Taiga Saejima, and Daigo Dojima, the sixth Chairman of the Tojo clan, arrived just in time to take down a hostile helicopter and then helped Kiryu fight against former Omi Clan officers. Afterward, as Kiryu engages Ebina in the final battle, Majima, Saejima, and Daigo hold off the rest of the ex-Omi officers.
After Kiryu defeats Ebina, Majima and the rest burst into the room, having achieved victory on their side as well. Then they witness an exhausted Kiryu collapse. We see Kiryu being taken away to a hospital via helicopter.
Which Characters Will Reappear In Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii?
Numerous characters from the previous games will be making an appearance in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Taiga Saejima is one such character. Additionally, Nishida and Daisaku Minami, two former members of Majima’s Yakuza family, will also be in the game.
Although we currently do not have information on any other reappearing characters, you can recruit certain characters from the previous games for your pirate crew. You can do this by purchasing the Deluxe edition and/or by pre-ordering the game.
Ichiban Kasuga, the current protagonist of the series, can be recruited if you pre-order the game. Other characters who are part of the Deluxe edition include Kiryu and Daigo.
