YouTuber Dontavius “Duke Dennis”, born on February 26, 1994, in Greenville, South Carolina, was raised by a single mother.
Duke Dennis started uploading videos on the NBA 2K game franchise on his first channel, “Duke Dennis Gaming,” in 2017. He is not that active on this channel nowadays, but you will find him on his other channels on the platform. He hails from Greenville, South Carolina.
His current main channel is “Duke Dennis,” where he has a subscriber count of 2.87 million. His other channel, DukeDennis LIVE, has 1.17 million followers and features moments from his livestreams on Twitch, including his reactions and IRL interactions. On the Amazon-backed streaming platform, his channel is named “Duke” and has 2.5 million followers.
Duke is also a member of the AMP (Any Means Possible) group, which consists of other big stars from Twitch such as Kai Cenat, Roberto “Fanum”, Davis “ImDavisss,” and Chris “Chrisnxtdoor”. Being 30 years old, Duke Dennis is the oldest member of the collective.
What Did Duke Dennis Do Before Livestreaming?
Duke Dennis had been a football athlete for two years during his time in high school. However, he did not have many college plans. So, he decided to enlist in the United States Army instead and served a four-year contract.
He has stated that the reason for him pursuing admission into the army was to not stay “stuck in the hood,” but he does not recommend others going to the army, as it is “not for everybody”.
As part of this contract, he served in Germany following his completion of the basic training camp. The contract eventually expired in 2017. He has described his time with the armed forces as one in which he faced issues with authority and preferred to stay inside his room. After getting free from the contract, Duke Dennis started his YouTube channel, which eventually led him to internet stardom.
In a video, titled Duke Dennis Story Time: My Army Experience, Basic Training and Why I Left the Army, he explained how he felt following his leaving the army:
“I ain’t gon’ lie, when I got out the army, it was the best feeling of my life, you know what I’m sayin’? Being free, it felt like I got out of jail or something.”
He also revealed that, at one point during his deployment in Germany, he had even thought of resorting to illegal activities as a way to get released:
“So when I was in Germany, bro, I was trying to to find a way to get out the army, I was thinking about smoking weed, I was thinking about cussing out a sargeant, I was thinking about doing it all, bro.”
In other news, Duke Dennis recently went on his livestream to slam those who claimed the streamer was “aura-farming” and “trying to look cool eating fruit” by doing certain hand-shaking gestures while eating grapes.
