Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has various modes, but Episode Battle is a fan favorite. Equivalent to a standard story mode, it takes you through the events of Dragon Ball using branching paths and choices. However, what has caught us by surprise is the mode’s inherent difficulty. If you’ve faced Great Ape Vegeta, you know what we’re talking about. The fights are tough and require you to master the game’s defense system.

In this guide, we shall suggest the ideal difficulty to pick when playing Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Difficulty Options

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero presents a variety of Difficulty Settings based on the mode you choose to play. The Episode Battle story modes offer the choice between Normal and Easy, with the latter locking access to the game’s what-if Sparking Episodes. You have to complete alternate objectives on the Normal difficulty to unlock the Sparking Episodes.

The other regular modes offer a greater selection of choices. The Versus Mode and the World Tournament Mode, in their offline versions, offer choices between Weak, Normal, Strong, and Super difficulties.

Which Difficulty Should You Choose?

With so many difficulty options to choose from, it can be hard to pick the one that’s ideal for you and your Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Experience. We recommend sticking to the Normal difficulty for the Episode Battle story mode. You will face a significant challenge, but your efforts will pay off. Facing Great Ape Vegeta and Frieza early on in the game is an uphill battle. But, we recommend sticking to the difficulty and overcoming the challenge to unlock and see everything the game has to offer.

Checking off the objectives on the Normal difficulty unlocks What-if scenarios that play out alternate cutscenes for you to experience. It also freshens up the story and adds replayability. Most importantly, the Normal mode in the Episode Battle forces your hand and makes you familiarize yourself with the game’s defense system. Z-Counters, Perception, Sonic Sway, and much more are necessary if you wish to have a fighting chance.

For the Versus and World Tournament modes, the choice is purely based on personal preference. We recommend starting out at Normal and pushing your way up when necessary.
