Twitch streamer and YouTuber Denzel “Duke Dennis” is one of the six members of the Any Means Possible (AMP) group.
Duke Dennis rose to popularity through his coverage of the basketball simulation video game series NBA 2K. He is also known for being the oldest member of the AMP collective. The 30-year-old content creator has 2.5 million subscribers on his Twitch channel, while his YouTube channels, Duke Dennis and Duke Dennis Gaming, hold 2.8 million subscribers and 1.9 million subscribers, respectively.
Duke Dennis was born on February 26, 1994, in Greenville, South Carolina, where he grew up alongside two brothers. His claim to internet fame came through his older YouTube channel, Duke Dennis Gaming, where he started uploading videos related to the NBA 2K series in 2017. Before this, he served in the United States Army and spent four years stationed in Germany as part of his contract.
However, as revealed by him in a YouTube video, he did not enjoy his time in the armed forces and faced issues while dealing with authority. He also stated that he nearly resorted to illegal activities, such as the use of recreational drugs as a way to get out of the army. Now, he is best known for holding Just Chatting broadcasts on his Twitch channel, Duke, where he reacts to popular videos and interacts with viewers.
When Duke Dennis Claimed His Old Musical.ly Videos Were “AI-generated”
Duke Dennis was producing content online before the advent of TikTok and subsequently introduced short-form video content. As per a viral clip, the streamer was supposedly an active member of the now-defunct Musical.ly. To those unaware, Musical.ly was a platform where users could upload up to 60-second-long videos lip-syncing to music. Musical.ly launched in 2014 and shut down in 2018.
However, this clip of himself from the platform seemed to be too embarrassing for Duke. After reviewing it himself, he claimed that the clip of him lip-syncing was not real and was “AI-generated.” Discussing the “dangers” of content generated by artificial intelligence, he sarcastically asked viewers to do their due diligence before believing a video to be real:
“Hey, I want you to know, this is not a real video though. This is not a real f**king video. This sh** is the most AI video I’ve ever seen in my life… Like, look, it look like, but it don’t look like me. You know what I’m sayin’? And like, I think we just need to take a minute and realize how… dangerous and scary this AI sh** is getting… This sh** really crazy as hell, ’cause n***a AI looks so motherf**king real nowadays, you don’t know what the f**k real and what’s fake.”
When Drake Posted Duke Dennis On Instagram
Duke Dennis also made headlines when Canadian hip-hop star Drake posted a cryptic photo of the former on Instagram, leaving fans of both entertainers puzzled. Along with the photo was a cryptic message, stating:
“I’m not aware of my picture or mirror face. It’s a curse from birth and I’m influenced by what I see”.
This was then followed by a hilarious back-and-forth between the two as they resorted to roasting each other in the comments of the post. Responding to a comment left by Duke, Drake jokingly called out Duke Dennis’ fashion sense. Duke Dennis then clapped back and claimed that Drake gave “the same vibe” in some of his own photos.
