Ninja has gained immense popularity, thanks to his impressive Fortnite career. Richard Tyler Belvins became one of the most popular streamers and professional gamers. In 2019, he made headlines when he announced that he would be shifting from Twitch to another streaming platform called Mixer, owned by Microsoft.

However, in 2020, Ninja announced that he would be returning to Twitch streaming. This is because Microsoft was shutting down Mixer and moving their existing partners to Facebook Gaming. As a result, all the Streamers including Ninja, had to move to Facebook Gaming. When Tyler realized that Mixer was not getting him the expected volume of audience, he decided to leave Mixer for good.

Twitch is definitely the most famous streaming platform and the numbers prove it too. Ninja’s return to Twitch is considered a wise move by many. He signed an exclusive long-term deal with Twitch.

It was difficult for Ninja to leave Mixer behind. However, the streamer believed that people at Twitch had his best interests at heart. He said,

“I really took my time to decide which platform was best and Twitch has been very supportive throughout this process and understanding my overall career goals,”

Why Did Ninja Join Mixer?

When Ninja signed the deal, Twitch lost its biggest star to a competing streaming platform, Mixer. He felt a nostalgic connection with the game Halo which was created by Microsoft Gaming Studios. This was one of the deciding factors as to why he took the deal. Additionally, the deal was for a whopping $30 million.

While joining Mixer, he said,

As I look at the next step in my career, achieving bigger goals in the gaming industry with Mixer will allow me to have the perfect balance of opportunities and success. My roots as a gamer started with Halo, so working with Microsoft and coming over to Mixer felt like a natural next step. Capturing all the great moments in gaming and sharing in the wins (and losses) with a positive, community-focused environment that we can all be proud of – that’s why I’m here.”

However, in 2020 when Ninja decided to leave Mixer and go back to Twitch, posted an animated GIF celebrating Ninja’s return, with the comment, “To new beginnings.”
