In Wildgate, you can get into team-based PvP action in outer space. You can invade the ships of enemy teams and loot valuables from them. Or, you can directly attack their ship with yours. However, the game also has a certain system in place that prevents smaller teams from being at a disadvantage when taking on teams with more players.

This is the Small Crew Bonus in Wildgate, and it’s crucial to maintain balance during multiplayer. In the following guide, we’ll explore exactly what the Small Crew Bonus in Wildgate does and how it creates balance.

The Small Crew Bonus, as the name suggests, offers certain advantages to squads with fewer crew members. That bonus simply helps with survivability and recovery of the smaller team, even when they go up against the bigger crews. In this way, the game ensures that both squads have an equal footing of sorts and the smaller crews don’t get outnumbered and dominated.

Additionally, the Small Crew Bonus effect cuts down the respawn time by four seconds. However, even more importantly, the effect reduces damage from ship fire by 50%. And, the teams can further reduce ship fire damage by stacking the bonus effect with items, such as the Fire Shield.

You don’t even need to activate the Small Crew Bonus manually. The game enables it by default if your team size is smaller than the standard. So, any time you start up the game with a smaller crew, the bonus will come into effect automatically.

Why Do You Need the Small Crew Bonus in Wildgate?

As we stated earlier, this particular bonus helps smaller crews to go toe to toe with the bigger teams. Without it, it would be almost impossible for smaller crews to defend the ship against a boarding party or undertake repairs while under fire from an enemy ship.

The reduced ship fire damage helps to give such teams more time to react and repair any issues that might have been caused. Similarly, the quicker respawn means that your ship will remain inoperational for much smaller periods than under normal circumstances.
