In a recent Xbox podcast, Fatima Kardar, Xbox Corporate Vice President of Gaming AI, revealed Copilot for Gaming. As several industries leverage AI with its rapid development in this AI-driven era, Xbox acts as the first mover in this case and integrates AI with gaming.

Copilot for Gaming aims to offer personalized services to gamers based on their choices and playstyle, help players get out of a sticky situation, progress faster, and sharpen their skills. Additionally, it heavily assists newer users and guides them in-game when they are stuck.

Fatima Kardar stresses that Copilot for Gaming offers personalized coaching based on the players’ past activities and skill level in-game. Furthermore, it opens up opportunities for casual gamers to try something they are new to or not comfortable with under normal circumstances. This is where Xbox’s Copilot comes in and provides coaching while still letting the user be in control.

Moreover, Fatima Kardar mentions the need of AI implementation in the industry as it is the only form of entertainment where users can get stuck, which is something that can essentially ruin someone’s experience. In the podcast, she commented:

“Gaming is the only form of entertainment where you can get stuck, so that’s where you want something to show up to say, ‘let’s help you get past that.’”

As shown in the concept footage, the AI conversation pop-up is overlaid on the top-left corner of the screen. It offers players situation-based solutions to different scenarios in-game, thus guiding players toward their next goal. The guidance is independent of the player’s gameplay style or path as it customizes the service, catering to the user’s unique needs.

Although Xbox’s AI gaming coach is still a concept, and there’s no telling when it will be available to users as a full product, fans can sign up for early access via the Xbox Insider Program.
