One of the big differences between Chronicles X Definitive Edition and the rest of the series is the fact that there’s not really a main character. You have primary characters like Lynn and Elma but they aren’t exactly the character that you play as. The big thing with Xenoblade Chronicles is that you create your own character. This is mainly done to tie into the online aspect of the game where you can send your character out to other players. They can use them to put in their party and have the advantages that your character has. So, if someone is struggling with a certain boss, then they can go online and select your character.

They don’t get the benefits of using the NPC members such as increasing their affinity and so forth. If you just need a quick increase in power, it is there. We will focus on the character creation this time around because it is so different from the rest of the series. The designs of these characters are pretty out there. They are very plasticine very doll-like I’ve seen people compared to having realistic bodies. Here are all the appearance options that you will get to choose from.

  • Gender- Choose between Male or Female
  • Base Face- Select from different preset face structures
  • Size- Adjust body size and proportions
  • Skin- Modify skin tone
  • Hair- Choose hairstyle and color
  • Eyes- Customize eye shape and color
  • Makeup- Apply facial markings and cosmetics
  • Voice- Pick from different voice options

There will be a cut scene after creating your character’s appearance. You’ll be prompted to enter a name, so make sure to enter the name wisely as you can’t rename it later in the game.

Change Character Appearance

You will go through a character creation process at the initial stage of Xenoblade Chronicles X, allowing you to customize your avatar. Your name and basic features will be locked after you finalize it. Navigate to the main menu, choose the Party option, and click on the Fashion Gear option. Now, you can easily equip your party with different outfits.

Changing your Appearance later

You can change your character’s appearance later in the game by completing some missions. However, your name can’t be changed later as it’s permanent throughout your journey. How To Change Your Character’s Appearance

Complete Yardley’s Scheme and House of Cards to complete to change your appearance. Yardley’s Scheme is available after completing Chapter 3. House of Cards is available after completing Chapter 5 but make sure to complete Yardley’s Scheme first.

Yardley’s Scheme

First, complete the main story quest Chapter 3 Builders of a Legacy to initiate Yardley’s Scheme. The Yardley’s Scheme Normal Mission is accessible to you after returning to New Los Angeles. Talk to Yardley in the Outfitters Test Hangar. This area is available in the Industrial District in New Los Angeles. Yardley requests you to bring the following materials as he has a complaint about the price of Skell parts.

  • 4x L-002 Space Analyzer
  • 1x California Sunset

You will automatically see them in your inventory if you are already collecting collectibles for your Collectopedia. L-002 Space Analyzer can be easily obtained from anywhere in Primordia areas. Unlike the L-002 Space Analyzer, the California Sunset is a rare material. You can collect it from caves in Primordia. This item doesn’t have any spawn location, so you can find them randomly while exploring this area. We recommend you move to the Starlit Basin in southwest Primordia to obtain the L-002 Space Analyzer. Once you collect it, you need to teleport to the nearest Landmark. This allows you to reset the spawns, so you can collect this item until you complete your requirement.

After collecting the required materials, make your way to Yardley and give him all the items. This allows you to complete the Yardley’s Scheme Normal Mission, rewarding you with 110 EXP. It’s best to move to the Rock Cavern in Silent Mire as this place has a decent number of collectibles. We recommend you don’t visit the Rock Cavern at night as you will encounter more enemies over there.

House of Cards

Make sure to complete Chapter 5: Ma-non Maneuvers’ main story quest to initiate the House of Cards Basic Mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Get closer to the Mission Control terminal opposite the BLADE Barracks after returning to the New LA. Now, you can accept the House of Cards mission. You need to find the keycard for Yardley to earn 100,000 credits. Make your way below the Administrative District to the Restricted Hangar. You need to come across the BLADE Barracks to move from the Mission Control terminal.

There is an elevator with a C-01 sign on your left after taking the first right turn. You can jump on the railing to get to the road instead of waiting for the elevator. It is easy to jump without worrying about the fall damage. Move in the north direction along the highway once you make it to the road. Make a first right turn and you will come across a Wang (NPC) to get to the Restricted Hangar. Take the first right turn after crossing the Wang.

You will see a red vehicle on your way, so you have to take a right turn before reaching it. Move up from the ramp and you will come across another NPC (Nelly). There will also be some red and white crates. Move behind the crates to find the Keycard. The color of this keycard is orange and looks like a collectible. Now, fast travel to the Barista Court in the Commercial District along with the Keycard. You can find Yardley in front of a door on the right side. However, if he’s not available over there then you can change the time to let him spawn.

Speak with Yardley at Midnight

Talk to him and hand him the Keycard. Now, he asks you to see him at night on the lowest level of New LA. You can now teleport to the Restricted Hangar Entrance fast travel point. During your journey to find the Keycard, you will be able to unlock this option. Move back to the highway and get past the Wang to jump over the railing into the water. You can see a small ledge on the southeast side. Climb the small ledge and you can find a white crate on the southeast side.

Make your way into the water and swim to the crate. You can change the time to midnight and there will be a man behind the crates. Now, the House of Cards mission will commence here, allowing you to receive 150 XP. Congratulations you unlock the machine that lets you change your appearance. You can wrap back the machine whenever you desire after unlocking a fast travel Landmark.
