Discover the best companion skills for Emmrich that have a greater impact on your battles in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the protagonist Rook embarks on a dangerous journey across Thedas and is accompanied by seven companions. All seven companions have distinct backstories and possess unique skills and abilities, which serve as a helping hand during the battle.
Emmrich Volkarin, a necromancer from Nevarra’s Mourn Watch, was recruited by Rook during the main story quest ‘Where the Dead Must Go’. Emmrich’s skill tree is divided into 5 abilities such as Final Rites, Replenish, Entangling Spirits, The Bell Tolls, and Time Slow.
In addition, there is also a special Veilguard skill, which can be unlocked based on your choice at Emmrich’s companion quest, ‘The Sacrifice of Souls’. Let’s dive into the 5 best companion skills for Emmrich in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
1) Life’s Embrace
Let’s start the list with Life’s Embrace skill, one of the Veilguard skills of Emmrich. It can be unlocked by saving Manfred by selecting the option ‘Bring back Manfred’ during the companion quest ‘The Sacrifice of Souls’. This Veilguard skill increases your low health threshold to 10% and paves the way for dealing more damage. Your party will deal 50% more damage when you are in low health.
2) Death’s Caress
Death’s Caress is another Veilguard skill of Emmrich. This skill unlocks when Emmrich becomes a lich during ‘The Sacrifice of Souls’ quest. This skill brings two effects. The Death’s Caress applies the Necrosis effect on damage caused by all of Emmrich’s abilities. It also increases the party’s Affliction damage by 25%.
3) Death Cry
The Death Cry skill is associated with Emmrich’s Final Rites ability. The ability allows Emmrich to summon the dead and deal necrotic damage with an explosion. Death Cry is a detonator-based skill. If you want to make the most out of the Primer and Detonator combo attacks, then you should definitely use this skill. This skill causes additional damage and effects on using a Detonator on a Primer-targeted enemy.
4) Vigor Mortis
Vigor Mortis is a greater passive skill unlocked at level 10. It is associated with the Replenish ability, which allows Emmrich to cast a healing spell and instantly restore health. Vigor Mortis grants the Invulnerable status when activated. As a result, you will endure all the attacks for a specific period of time. The Invulnerable duration can also be extended by 50% with the Extended Invulnerability skill.
5) Morbid Whispers
Morbid Whispers is linked to the Time-Slow ability of Emmrich. When the ability is activated, all enemies and companions move at a slower rate. Don’t worry, your speed will remain the same as usual. When the ability is combined with the Morbid Whispers skill, all the affected enemies take 150 Necrotic damage at the end of the Time-Slow effect.
