The Monster Hunter series is known for featuring some of the wildest Crossover events. Just look at Monster Hunter World, which features collaboration events with games like The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Final Fantasy 14, and even Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Not only do these events come with their own unique quests, but they also offer plenty of exclusive rewards, which often end up being some of the most powerful gear/resources in the game, even for the endgame. Even handheld entries like Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (MHGU) and MH Rise feature similar Collaboration events, albeit on a much smaller scale compared to MH World.

Suffice it to say, the Collaboration events play a vital role in the post-launch roadmap of a Monster Hunter title. However, there are some IPs and franchises that, despite lending themselves quite well to the Monster Hunter genre, are highly unlikely to ever get featured in a Monster Hunter game. Here are 5 unlikely Monster Hunter Wilds crossovers that fans would love to see happen someday.

5 Unlikely Monster Hunter Wilds Collaborations

1. Monster Hunter Wilds x Godzilla (Monsterverse)

The Monster Hunter series basically feels like the perfect fit for a “Godzilla/Monsterverse” experience. Think about it, in Monster Hunter World or even Rise, the Hunters regularly face creatures equating the scope and power thresholds of the likes of the King of Monsters, Ghidorah, Rhodan, Mothra, etc.

Getting the Monsterverse icons in a Monster Hunter game would be a perfect fit. Capcom won’t even have to make these monsters from scratch, as most of the Monsterverse creatures already have templates in the base Monster Hunter roster. For instance, Rajang can be repurposed into Kong, Nergigante/Anjanath can be repurposed into Godzilla, etc.

Furthermore, much like The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn events, the Godzilla/Monsterverse events can also feature a unique quest (involving inter-dimensional travel or the multiverse). Lastly, the event can be tied to some of the best end-game gear in the game, akin to the FF14 event in MH World.

2. Monster Hunter Wilds x God Eater

The God Eater series, on the surface, is very similar to Monster Hunter, at least on the gameplay front. Both franchises feature a robust combat system, focus on hunting “larger-than-life” monsters, and crafting powerful gear as part of the primary progression loop.

Bandai Namco’s monster-hunting IP seems to be a perfect fit for a Collaboration event for Monster Hunter Wilds. In fact, a God Eater collaboration is something fans of both franchises have been asking for for decades. There are even fan-made mods for MH World that bring some of the iconic weapons, a la Alisa’s Long Sword from God Eater 3, to the game.

Just imagine how cool a Monster Hunter version of Dyaus Pita, Amaterasu, or Regalia Balmung would look and play like. Furthermore, the event could be made into the source of some of the best end-game gear.

3. Monster Hunter Wilds x Cyberpunk 2077

Hear me out, I know a Cyberpunk 2077 collab for Monster Hunter sounds somewhat out of place, but it does make sense. Monster Hunter has had sci-fi elements in the past; just look at the Lunagaron armor set in Monster Hunter Rise. Or, an even better example is the Horizon Zero Dawn collab in MH World.

In the same vein, a Cyberpunk 2077 collab can perfectly fit into the Monster Hunter experience. If you’ve played the Phantom Liberty expansion, you’d remember the Chimera, a mechanical goliath that is a suitable candidate for a Monster Hunter boss. Also, the collab could pave the way for some really cool Cyberpunk-themed Layered Armor in MH Wilds.

4. Monster Hunter Wilds x Dark Souls

A Dark Souls collaboration makes perfect sense in Monster Hunter. It’s actually puzzling as to why it’s not already a thing in any of the recent Monster Hunter titles. The Dark Souls franchise is essentially synonymous with boss fights, very much like Monster Hunter.

The entire Dark Souls Trilogy features some really intriguing bosses that can fit perfectly into the world of Monster Hunter. Bosses like Sanctuary Guardian, Manus, Kalameet, Ruler of the Storm, Darkeater Midir, Demon Prince, Sinh, Ancient Dragon, etc., are all perfect fits for Monster Hunter. The collaboration can be made into a multi-quest event with multiple bosses from the Dark Souls Trilogy.

And as rewards for completing the event(s), players can unlock the iconic Boss Weapons like the Fume Great Sword, Stormruler, etc.

5. Monster Hunter Wilds x Pacific Rim

Just like the Monsterverse, the Pacific Rim universe also makes perfect sense as a Monster Hunter Collaboration. The Pacific Rim franchise is built on the idea of battling gigantic monsters called “Kaijus,” which falls perfectly in line with what Monster Hunter also stands for.

The Kaijus in the Pacific Rim movies can make pretty great Siege Bosses, akin to MH World’s Kulve Taroth, or Safi’jiiva. In fact, MH World also features a Siege Battle that’s part of a Collaboration event, i.e., Behemoth (Extreme). As such, a Siege event with a Pacific Rim tie-in will make for the perfect collaboration in Monster Hunter Wilds. Also, the event can feature its own storyline for the Siege.
