Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has many bosses. One of the more interesting bosses among them is Wraith. Yuri Watanabe was once Peter’s friend in Marvel’s Spider-Man. But after the event of the expansion pack named The City That Never Sleeps, the good-natured cop with a strong moral code was changed forever.

When she suffered injustice at the hands of Hammerhead, Yuri disappeared, only to come back as her new persona, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Wraith. As Wraith, Yuri Watanabe now walks on the path of vengeance, and Spider-Man is trying to stop his old friend from crossing the line.

Yuri Watanabe is on the hunt for a mysterious figure named The Flame and his cult. Progress through The Flame quest line to reach the mission named “I Knew You Had It In You.” At the end of the mission, Peter will be forced to engage in a boss battle with Yuri, aka The Wraith. She is fast with both close-range and long-range attacks. Additionally, she also has her chain blade and smoke bombs. With her fast movement and versatile weapon, Wraith could be a challenge for players who have not upgraded their skills yet.

Wraith will begin with the battle with her scythe attached to a chain. She can slash Peter up close or swing the scythe from a distance, so be careful. She will also grab objects in the arena with her weapons and throw them at Peter.

The best way to avoid damage from this attack is to dodge them. Press the Circle button to dodge her attacks and then press the Triangle button to use Web Strike to close the distance; she does not have grab attacks, so it should allow the players to land some blows.

Wraith will come close to slashing Peter and then perform a slide to land another slash; she will end this sequence with a jump attack. The first two moves can be parried or dodged, but the last move is not dodgeable, which will be indicated by a yellow ring around her head. Parry the last move and hit her with some punches. Once she reaches half of her health, she will start to become more aggressive.

Once Wraith becomes more aggressive, the player will need to be faster and more aggressive as well. Spider-Man’s abilities in the game can be very useful, and he can stun wraith in this boss battle, so we recommend upgrading Peter as much as you can before going into this boss fight. Keep dodging and parrying her attacks in order to hit her till her health drops to zero.

When Wraith’s health reaches zero, a cutscene will occur. After this cutscene, round 2 will begin. Wraith will get a new move-set in this round. She will show off her new moves by coming for a crush attack. The attack will be indicated by a blue ring around her head. The crush attack cannot be parried, so players must dodge this attack to avoid significant damage. She will keep doing this attack throughout the fight; she will also throw debris at Peter. The best way to avoid these attacks other than dodging is to use the Triangle button to keep Wraith in your hitting range.

Wraith has fast attacks, so we recommend using countermoves only when there is an opening. Once her health reaches one-third, she will start to fight a bit differently. She will throw smoke bombs at Peter to stun and blur his vision.

In this situation, rely on the Spider-Sense to counter her moves. She will mostly throw her scythe from a distance, so wait for Peter’s vision to clear up before closing the distance to hit her. Once you get your vision back, keep dodging and parrying to hit her. Once her health reaches around 25 percent, she will throw smoke bombs and stun Peter once again.

You can use the focus bar to perform finishers on Wraith, which will do a lot of damage, but we recommend conserving it in order to heal when needed. Once Wraith’s health reaches zero, the boss battle will be over, and the story will continue.

We also recommend getting the Symbiote Suit before doing this boss fight because it takes less damage, and Peter can use the Symbiote abilities. The Symbiote Surge especially does a good amount of damage; players can activate this ability by pressing L3 and R3.
