Sonar is a very good detection lancer, maybe one of the best in the current meta. Most of her abilities are used to gather information about enemies’ locations. Moreover, she can even become silent to deliver blows from behind. If Kismet does not suit you, this lancer can definitely grab her spot. To master her quickly, read this guide.

Sonar’s Abilities in FragPunk
She uses various gadgets that grant her the powers to detect enemies and their movements through walls.
- Echolocation: Deploys an echolocation device that periodically reveals surrounding enemies when they move.
- Sonic Surge: Launches a sonic wave that exposes all enemies it hits. The wave releases a delayed sonic blast that knocks back, dazes, and further exposes enemies in range. Hold the skill key or button to charge the skill and launch the sonic wave further.
- Sound of Silence: Dampens the footsteps of the player and their surrounding teammates. Grants immunity to enemy Echolocation scans.
Sonar’s Playstyle
This lancer is the perfect fight initiator for a team that likes to catch enemies off guard. Using her Echolocation, she detects moving enemies, and Sonic Surge clears the remaining area. However, the ability that makes her formidable is Sound of Silence. After activating, she can dampen the footsteps of the whole team.
Imagine this scenario: you are defending a site and hear no footsteps, but suddenly you get exposed and there’s a whole team at your doorstep. While playing Sonar, try keeping the following tips in mind:
- Use her Echolocation when enemies are either pushing or retaking, as it detects moving enemies. Moreover, it can be used as a fight-initiating device too.
- Sonic Surge is generally used to clear corners or chokepoints. You can combo with any fast-moving lancer like Axon to catch the dazed enemies off guard.
- Sound of Silence is great for flanking enemies, but it shines the most when pushing a site with full power.
