Let’s talk about Agile, Charged, and Final Attacks on the character upgrade screen of Dragon Age: The Veilguard in great detail.
You must have seen Agile, Charged, and Final Attacks whenever you visit the skill tree in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The game doesn’t have a clear-cut definition of what these attacks mean.
By default, we learn of the three kinds of attacks: Light, Heavy, and Ranged. There is also a Special Ability, which takes a while to recharge. However, neither of these attacks is synonymous with the ones we mentioned above.
This is because those attacks refer to your combat flow rather than the kind of attacks. Abilities like Decisive Finish grant you 10% attack damage for all the said attacks. Let’s learn what they imply.
Start Using Agile, Charged, and Final Attack to Your Advantage
Agile Attacks
In the game, Agile attacks refer to any attack that a player triggers while moving. Whether it be sprinting, jumping, or dodging—following that with an attack will count as an Agile attack. It can be a Light, Heavy, or Ranged attack.
So, the best way to use this bonus to its fullest is to keep sprinting between enemies to close the distance faster and avail this bonus. If there is only one enemy present, try jumping and dodging before you land an attack.
Charged Attacks
You may have noticed that holding the attack button plays out an extra animation. The attack then also does increased damage to the enemy. This is what a Charged attack is supposed to be. If an ability grants you bonus damage for these attacks, sneak these in between fights to increase your DPS significantly.
Move away from your enemy so you can charge your attack in peace. If you are charging a melee attack, let them come close and strike when they are close enough. Timing is key here. It is not a feasible attack in all situations though, so be vigilant when you use these attacks.
Final Attacks
A combo of attacks ends with one finishing touch to stagger the enemies or deal a devastating final blow. This is what we call a Final Attack. Finish up your chain of attacks to claim the Final attack bonus that a skill is granting you.
Some gear and abilities extend your combos. While it can be beneficial in some cases, it can delay your DPS bonus during a Final Attack. You may have to choose one of the two, either long combos or a final attack bonus.
This wraps up our guide for Agile, Charged, and Final Attacks. Keep experimenting to see which abilities work in favor of your play style. However, sticking to a single play style throughout the game might hold you back.
