Stakes are higher than ever as you step foot into the late-game of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the game indicates the same by throwing every enemy at you as often as it can. In the late-game, you have seen most of what the game has to offer mechanically, and you probably want to cleave through enemies as fast as you can to see how the story unfolds. Thankfully, with the right specializations, Dragon Age: The Veilguard lets you do exactly that. Regardless of which class you pick, each class has three specializations for you to pick from, some of which are undisputedly the best.

In this guide, we shall go over the best late-game specializations in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Warrior Specialization

The Warrior class plays much like the traditional knight class in other RPGs, where you’re given a sword and shield with the world as your arena. Each fight you take is up close and personal, and the room for error is minimal.

The Warrior class has three specializations to choose from: the Champion, the Slayer, and the Reaper. The Reaper class is the best specialization for the late-game, just as it was for the early-game. The specialization is perhaps the best out of all the game has to offer. Much of this is because of the Reaper’s ability to deal Necrotic damage while simultaneously healing. In the late-game as you’re moving from one enemy ambush to the next, the Spirit Storm ability allows you to deal with large crowds by creating a whirlwind that sucks in enemies to deal Necrotic damage, all while healing you.

Mage Specialization

The Mage class is a safer pick if you prefer taking on enemies from a distance. The bonus is that you get flashy abilities to go along with it. The class is best at exploiting elemental weaknesses and incentivizes strategy before each fight. Knowledge is key for this class. For the late game, the Spellblade specialization is the best the Mage class has to offer.

The Spellblade specialization has the Arcana bomb AOE attack that can wipe out enemies in one go, making dealing with crowds easier. The attacks also use minimal amounts of Mana, and whatever they do use can be easily recovered through attacking enemies. The Spellblade is sustainable and ideal for the large hordes present in the late-game.

Rogue Specialization

The Rogue class is arguably the third out of the three you can choose. It is by no means a bad class, but its high-risk, high-reward playstyle makes it a double-edged sword. In this class, you’re frequently running into an enemy horde, chipping away at HP and then falling back. The class isn’t ideal for large hordes that the enemies throws at you late-game. Nonetheless, this is a unique class that requires you to be swift with your movement and strikes and gain momentum. The Rogue moves like a ninja to strike around and fall back to a distance. The class also comes equipped with ranged weapons, making the Rogue a jack-of-all-trades in a manner.

The Veil Ranger is the best specialization for the Rogue class in the late-game. While primarily equipped to deal with one enemy at a time, the specialization also comes with the Reeling Bolt ability. This bolt attack lets you deal with large crowds while also staggering them. It also applies the Weakened and Shocked status effect on enemies, further shifting the tide in your favor.
