How to Unlock Harding’s Veilguard Skill in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
To unlock Harding’s Veilguard skill in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will need to progress her companion storyline through The Heart of the Titan. During the final fight, you will need to help her make a choice. Depending on the nature of that choice, you will unlock one of two possible Veilguard skills for Harding.
Moreover, there is no way for you to unlock both of the Veilguard skills for Harding in a single playthrough. Consequently, to experience both you will need to play a second time through or create a separate save file.. Additionally, with this choice, you will also unlock a legendary armor for Harding. The armor associated with each choice has a unique design. Moreover, the traits on each armor are different and can affect your Harding build.
Finally, the choice you will be making for Harding is whether to contain the Titan Shade by using her compassion or embracing her anger. The rewards will trigger immediately at the end of the quest, and you will receive the armor and unlock the skill automatically.
Here are each of the Veilguard Skills and Legendary Armor you can unlock for Harding in Dragon Age: The Veilguard:
- Veilguard Skills
- Heart of the Titan
- The Stone’s Vengeance
- Legendary Armor
- Inquisition Spotter
- Titan’s Vengeance
Harding Compassion Veilguard Skill
All features and mechanics of Harding’s Imprisoned Veilguard Skill:
- Name: Heart of the Titan
- Description: Soothing Potion’s cooldown duration is reduced by -15%. Harding’s Detonations damage is increased by 25%. You and your other companion gain bonus 20% damage and 15% cooldown reduction.
If you choose to calm the Titan Shade with Harding’s compassion, then you will unlock the Heart of the Titan Veilguard skill. This skill will unlock automatically for you and does not require you to spend a skill point.
The Heart of the Titan passive not only boosts Harding’s ability to heal but can also buff the rest of your party. The first trait gives Harding a -15% cooldown on her Soothing Potion abilities. The second trait boosts Harding’s detonation damage by 25%. Moreover, it also grants you and the other companion 20% bonus damage and a 15% cooldown reduction.
The bonuses from the Heart of the Titan Veilguard skill are fantastic, especially if you are using Harding as your group healer. The cooldown reduction on Soothing Potion will allow you to trigger that ability more often. However, where the passives really shine is with the damage boost for the rest of the party, and the overall reduction in cooldown duration. With this, you and the other companion will be doing more damage even with light attacks, as well as firing off abilities more often.
Harding Compassion Legendary Armor
All features and mechanics of Harding’s Compassion Legendary Armor:
- Name: Inquisition’s Spotter
- Weight: Medium
- Rarity: Legendary
- Companion only: Harding
- Traits:
- All Detonations are more likely to disrupt affected enemies.
- This chance for disruptions applies to all enemies near a Detonation.
The Inquisition’s Spotter legendary armor has bonuses that boost Harding’s ability to disrupt enemies on detonations. The first trait states that all detonations are more likely to disrupt affected enemies. Moreover, the second trait builds on the first allowing a chance for the disruption to apply to any enemy near the Disruption.
Interestingly, this tooltip does not specifically limit the application of the disrupt effect to only detonations caused by Harding. Therefore, it seems possible that this could apply to any detonations done by you or your other companion.
Harding Anger Veilguard Skill
Features and mechanics of Harding’s Anger Veilguard Skill:
- Name: The Stone’s Vengeance
- Description: Harding’s weapon attacks are occasionally replaced with Titan Stones. Titan Stones deal 20% increased damage and now apply Bleeding.
If you choose to contain the Titan Shade by embracing her anger, then you will unlock The Stone’s Vengeance Veilguard skill. Like all other Veilguard skills, this one will unlock automatically for you and does not require you to spend a skill point.
The Stone’s Vengeance passive grants Harding an unpredictable damage boost. With the first trait, Harding’s weapon attacks are occasionally replaced with Titan Stones. The second trait states that the Titan Stones deal 20% more damage, and will also apply bleeding.
Unfortunately, the tooltip does not state a clear rate at which the Titan Stones occur. “Occasionally” could mean different things to different people. However, the damage boost is nice, and the Bleeding effect that the stones apply will synergize well with the legendary armor you receive.
Harding Anger Legendary Armor
All features and mechanics of Harding’s Anger Legendary Armor:
- Name: Titan’s Vengeance
- Weight: Medium
- Rarity: Legendary
- Companion only: Harding
- Traits:
- Detonations also apply Bleeding.
- Detonations deal +25% Physical damage vs. Enemies that are already Bleeding.
The Titan’s Vengeance legendary armor has bonuses that focus on the use of the Bleeding status effect. The first trait states that Detonations will also apply Bleeding. Furthermore, the second trait builds off of this, and detonations will deal an additional 25% of damage against enemies that already have the Bleeding affliction.
Therefore, the combination of the Titan’s Vengeance legendary armor and The Stone’s Vengeance Veilguard skill could make Harding a more effective damage dealer. This can depend on the frequency with which Harding produces the Titan Stones, which can apply the Bleeding effect to enemies. However, you could also use your own build and gear to increase the application of Bleeding. Cordova’s Toothpick is a unique saber that is fantastic for this, and you can further boost your damage to Bleeding enemies with the Bleeding Shard ring.
