This Marvel Rivals tier list for July 2025 classifies all the heroes into four tiers based on their overall impact and meta of the game.

Marvel Rivals has seen an impressive launch, with hundreds and thousands of concurrent players. While the game falls under the hero-shooter genre, it is not entirely about superheroes. There are villains and anti-heroes as well, some of which perform better than the heroes, in fact. With a massive roster of over 30 characters, a tier classification is in order for the current patch.
This article classifies the entire roster of Marvel Rivals into a unified tier list. Not all heroes perform that well, and not all villains are doomed to face defeat. The division of heroes in this list takes all roles into consideration and is relevant for the current patch in July 2025.
This Marvel Rivals Tier List classifies all heroes into four ranks:
- S: The best characters in Marvel Rivals who consistently perform well in all scenarios.
- A: These characters are great in most scenarios, but are outshined by the S-tier characters.
- B: They are good characters, but they rely on other factors like map and team synergies.
- C: These characters are currently underwhelming, and mostly do not make a lot of impact in matches.
The characters have been classified in this tier list based on the following criteria:
- Impact in a game: How well they generally perform when played right.
- Universal Synergy: How well the characters synergize with others irrespective of their Team-Up ability.
Note: This list is subjective and reflects the writer’s opinions.

S-tier: The Main Players in a Match

- Vanguards: Emma Frost, Groot, Magneto
- Duelists: Hela, Mister Fantastic, Iron Man, Wolverine
- Strategists: Invisible Woman, Rocket Raccoon, Loki, Ultron
S-tier heroes in Marvel Rivals are good in every scenario and perform well in every match. Emma Frost, Rivals’ latest Vanguard addition is an excellent poke tank who can also disrupt the frontline to halt the opponents’ progress. Magneto has risen up the ranks owing to this team-up with Emma Frost, which makes his presence even deadlier with a clone. Finally, his ultimate can counter a lot of the other heroes, and can one-shot support ultimates. Groot’s crowd control abilities with his walls have finally shown their true colors, and an experience player can hold you back indefinitely. In higher ranks, this hero is more than often banned.
Hela continues to dominate the game as one of the best hit-scan duelists, while Mister Fantastic sees a drastic jump. Also a very frequently banned character, he can walk the frontlines like a Vanguard agent and deal counter-damage. Paired with his additional shield, it becomes really difficult to stop Mister Fantastic once he gets going. Iron Man saw a significant rise in Season 2.5 owing to Ultron’s release, which made the flying team composition a really viable albeit frustrating one. His team-up with Ultron further facilitated his position, and many matches often see this hero banned.
Wolverine is a Vanguard destroyer, who can wreak havoc if not properly countered. He can disrupt the entire frontline and can make short of an unsuspecting tank by forcibly repositioning them (or “kidnapping,” as the in-game communications refer to it.) That said, it takes some skill and practice to be actually good as a Wolverine as his positioning matters a lot.
Invisible Woman’s addition to Marvel Rivals had somewhat triggered the three-healer meta. Her abilities can heal you mid air, and she has one of the best defensive ultimates in the game currently. Rocket Racoon gets a massive jump after his ultimate got a rework, and he is now one of the best supports that you can use during a match. His ultimate gives you perpetual armor while buffing the damage, which makes him a menace to deal with. Paired with his revives, Rocket Raccoon is a dominant force in the current Rivals meta.
Loki is the master of deception, and his clones and ultimate are painful. His lamps have a heal output that can counter many ultimates, and his ultimate is very versatile. You can copy anyone as Loki to clutch the round depending on the team’s need. Whether it is another defensive ultimate to hold point or another Punisher ultimate to force-win the point, you name it, you have it with Loki.
Although Ultron is not your typical main healer, he can be an excellent support agent who puts can put a significant amount of DPS pressure. Ultron has decent heals, and most importantly, can pair up with dive or flying heroes to keep them alive with his drone. As a flying hero himself, Ultron can be difficult to counter owing to his mobility. Finally, his ultimate can deal both damage or deal impressive heals based on the situation and how you are playing him. Ultron’s arrival has definitely seen the uprising of the flying meta, which can be rather annoying at times.
A-tier: Your Next Best Option

- Vanguards: Peni Parker, The Thing
- Duelists: Moon Knight, Psylocke, Hawkeye, Spider-Man, Winter Soldier, The Punisher, Squirrel Girl
- Strategists: Mantis, Cloak & Dagger
A-tier heroes in this Marvel Rivals tier list are good in their own rights, but they are mostly outshined by the S-tier heroes with their sheer versatility. Most of the characters here can potentially make it to S-tier with some tweaks to their kits, but that’s a different discussion. \
Peni Parker is currently undoubtedly the best Controller-Vanguard in Marvel Rivals. She can put a lot of utilities in a site that can be problematic for opponents, especially if they are running a dive composition. Moreover, she can also buff your healing received, making her a must-have in control setups. She is one of the few trap-heroes in Marvel Rivals currently and is an absolute beast at this role as well. On paper, The Thing might seem like an easy hero to master. However, he is plenty complex and requires precise diving to actually disrupt the enemy. If played correctly, he can cause a lot of chaos which his team can then take advantage of.
Moon Knight is everyone’s favorite spam hero, and he does his job extremely well. Position yourself in off angles, and use your abilities to get infinite poke damage or secure confirmed kills on unsuspecting enemies – this Egyptian God’s avatar can do it all. Psylocke, on the other hand, is an amazing Dive-Duelist. She is fast and can traverse big portions of the map easily. Moreover, she deals massive damage in close-to-mid range with her combos, irrespective of what team she is in. All these characters have ultimate abilities that could potentially wipe teams if the opponents are not wary enough.
Spider-Man is an unusual duelist who somehow has high kills but not nearly enough damage. This is because his playstyle revolves around flanking and finishing enemies who are less observant of their surroundings. That said, everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood hero is a very skilled pick and requires substantial mastery.
Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, Punisher, and Squirrel Girl are all good in their own rights, but are outshined by the heroes who are in S tier. That said, these are still amazing picks that will work in nearly every team composition.
Cloak & Dagger is still one of the best support heroes in Marvel Rivals, and has one of the highest heal outputs overall. However, Rocket’s buff makes him much more versatile, which has also caused a slight decline in C&D’s overall usage. Mantis is another support who has a defensive ultimate, but her gameplay is focused largely on DPS. However, she shines because of her ability to buff teammates, and “sleep” opponents, which can be particularly effective to cancel out some opponent ultimates, or to counter dive heroes and kill them instantly.
B-tier: They’re Not That Great

- Vanguards: Hulk, Doctor Strange, Venom, Thor
- Duelists: Scaret Witch, Namor, Storm, Star-Lord, Iron Fist, Human Torch, Black Panther, Magik
- Strategists: Luna Snow, Adam Warlock
Let’s get one thing clear – these heroes are not bad at all. However, they are not good either. These characters suffer from a case of severe mediocrity and are greatly outshined by other heroes who fill in their shoes and do a better job. These are still viable picks if you want to really utilize the Team-Up Abilities, but other than that, they are not likely to be frequent picks.
C-tier: Best to Avoid For Now

- Vanguards: Captain America
- Duelists: Black Widow
- Strategists: Jeff the Land Shark
These characters perform poorly in the current state of the game. They do not bring any exclusive characteristics to a team, there are multiple characters who can do their job far better and more efficiently. These heroes are likely going to be picked as specific counter-play options only. Similar extremely niche scenarios could make you pick these characters, otherwise they are not going to see a lot of playtime in the current meta.
