Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the latest title in the Final Fantasy 7 series by Square Enix. Along with the great story, this game boasts a phenomenal combat system. One key feature adapted from the previous title is the diverse difficulty system, which you can change any time outside combat. These difficulty modes are suited for both casual players and hardcode combat enjoyers. Comparatively, this makes sure the game stays simple enough for everyone to play while also not being too easy to stay engaging.

In this guide, we will explain how to access the option menu and switch between all the difficulty levels. Furthermore, we’ll discuss how each difficulty changes various aspects of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

When you first play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, three difficulty modes are available. Moreover, one final mode unlocks after completing the game once. These settings are in the options menu under Gameplay. These Difficulty settings are:

  • Easy Mode
  • Normal Mode
  • Dynamic Mode
  • Hard Mode

You can toggle among these settings to change the difficulty. However, be sure not to be in a battle. In general, this is great for people who either want a challenge or want to take it easy for a bit. With this in mind, we will discuss each difficulty and what changes they make in your game.

Easy Mode

Easy Mode significantly decreases the difficulty of battles as enemies have less than normal HP, and they take more damage as well. Additionally, blocking and parrying get easier as more time is provided to defend. This is perfect for those who want a laid-back experience and enjoy the story without worrying about combat difficulty.

Normal Mode

Normal Mode ensures you get somewhat of a challenge, offering a well-balanced difficulty. This Mode is designed for players who are experienced with RPG games and prefer a balanced challenge. In general, the enemies have their normal HP, and they take normal amounts of damage as well, allowing you to enjoy the fights without demolishing them.

Dynamic Mode

This is a brand new difficulty mode in Final Fantasy 7 Series, which is only present in Rebirth. In this Mode, the enemies change as you do. In other words, the enemies get stronger as you keep leveling up and gaining skills which ensures you always face a challenge worthy of your level. The enemies have no specific HP, as that changes according to your skills. Be wary, as this Mode increases the difficulty if you are not properly familiar with the battle mechanics.

Hard Mode

Firstly, Hard Mode in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is initially locked and only becomes available after completing the game for the first time. Complete the game fully once, and this difficulty is available for your second playthrough. This is the most challenging difficulty in the entire game, as enemies have way more HP than before, and you cannot use any items. Additionally, rest stops now only regain HP but not MP, so think twice before using spells.

Finally, you gain more character manuscripts, which in turn help you unlock more Folios compared to other modes.
