Learn about the best out of all Mage specializations in Dragon Age: The Veilguard with the help of our ranked list.
Mage is the best class for crowd control in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and all Mage specializations offer different variations of the same mechanic. Despite their similarities, the gameplay experience of these subclasses can feel drastically altered based on how you like playing.
The list we are about to present here is a ranked one and contains the writer’s subjective views. All of it is based on the official subclasses or specializations for the Mage class in the latest Dragon Age game. We will explore them in the following ranked order: Spellblade, Death Caller, Evoker.
The list will start with the specialization that we found the most useful while playing as a Mage and will end with the one that was overshadowed by the rest of its substitutes.
Ranking All Mage Specializations: Best to Worst
1. Spellblade
This specialization mainly focuses on Lightning attacks. If you have ever fought an enemy that is skilled in Lightning, you would know how devastating it is to be on the receiving end of it. Well, now you can deliver it too. Wreak havoc in both closed as well as ranged combat.
Keeping your DPS will allow you to deliver massive damage continuously. Moreover, you also don’t rely on Mana that much because you can easily recover it. As a Mage, this is the best way for crowd control.
2. Death Caller
The name suggests how Death Caller will let you excel in dealing Necrotic damage. Skills like Channeled Thoughts let you regenerate Mana quickly during fights. In this regard, it is similar to Spellblade, except the latter wouldn’t require an extra skill.
However, one thing that you can do without stoppage is use Corrupted Ground repeatedly and pair it with Channeled Thoughts to deal massive Necrotic damage to your enemies. Hence, AoE abilities will be your go-to offense tactics.
3. Evoker
Do you enjoy slowing down or stunning your enemies during a fight? Evoker will do exactly that for you. This specialization can excel in crowd control using Cold damage abilities. Unfortunately, it’s not big on dealing damage.
This can come off as a disappointment because, as the main character, you would want to wreak havoc on enemies. This intense focus on support in the Evoker out of all Mage specializations is one of the reasons it is placed last. Mana and spell Cooldown aren’t well managed in this specialization. However, if you pair it well with other companions and their skills, you might just use it to its full extent.
These three are the only specializations that you need to worry about when tinkering with the Mage class. Experiment and figure out which one you resonate with the most!
