Consequently, you should head to the left and follow the path to the south entrance. There will be two goblin guards posted here, but they are much easier to deal with.
Additionally, the Apothecary itself is closer to this south entrance. Head inside the abandoned shop and then around the front counter to find a Wooden Hatch. Use it to go down into the Apothecary’s Cellar.
Down in the Cellar, look for a stack of crates along the north wall. Ideally, one of your party members will succeed on a 15 DC Perception Check. This will highlight a hidden lever behind the crates. However, if no one discovers it, you can find it manually by moving the crates to reveal the lever.
Pull the lever, and it will open a secret passage behind a bookshelf to the right. In this new underground area you can acquire Shovel, a permanent summon unlock. Then, at the other end of the underground passage, you will encounter the Ornate Mirror.

What is Behind the Ornate Mirror in BG3
The most important artifact behind the Ornate Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the book the Necromancy of Thay. This book can be opened in Act 1 if you collect the Dark Amethyst in the Whispering Depths. Furthermore, if you turn one page and pass the 10 DC Wisdom check, then your character gets the Speak With Dead spell that can be cast as a ritual rather than using a spell slot.
Then, pass a 15 DC Wisdom check to turn the second page. There is no special reward here. Finally, pass a 20 DC Wisdom check to turn the last page and receive the Forbidden Knowledge passive.
