Exploring Rocky Crevices in Baldur’s Gate 3
Here are a few different ways you can get inside the Rocky Crevices you find in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Halflings and Gnomes can naturally squeeze into medium sized crevices due to their smaller size
- Druids can cast Wild Shape and change into a Cat
- You can use the Shapeshift spell to temporarily transform into a Halfling or Gnome
- Visit Withers to hire a Halfling or Gnome party member
If you’ve already created a Halfling or Gnome character for your adventure through the Forgotten Realms, then you’ll already be set with a racial feature you didn’t even know you’d need! If you’re not the right class or sub-class to have access to the Shapeshift spell, then you can try using Astarion. He can learn this spell via the Arcane Trickster subclass at level 3.
If you don’t want to have to respec Astarion and your character isn’t one of the smaller races, you could also try getting a hireling from Withers. Hirelings can be any class and race you’d like. Which means in a pinch you could hire a Gnome or Halfling for a bit of spelunking!
Another fun solution requires the Druid class, which gives you access to the ability to Wild Shape. There are several large forms which can be used for combat, but the small Cat option is perfect for sneaking in and out of small spaces. Again, if your character is not a Druid or you don’t have companion Halsin in your party, you can always get a hireling to do the job for you.
