In the last couple of days before launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 has seen it’s Steam sales rise almost to the top. Putting it in the number two spot just below the free to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. An impressive showing for a game that has been quietly in Early Access for a few years as developers Larian Studios made continuous updates and improvements along the way.
Following their last Panel From Hell livestream in mid-July the hype and anticipation of this long-awaited sequel has been growing. The cRPG audience has typically been a smaller niche within the much larger role-playing game genre. Rarely has an isometric, turn-based, narrative and dice-roll heavy game foster so much interest.
But the developers made a strong showing during the Livestream and have followed up with a couple of informative Community Updates since. They clearly have put a lot of time, effort, and passion into the developing this game. Which from all appearances has an in-depth character creator, a robust class system, challenging strategic combat, lots of engaging and interesting companions, and tons of replayability.
As the Forgotten Realms face an unprecedented threat of mind-flayers invading the realm, players will embark on a perilous journey. They’ll be forging alliances, making tough decisions, and battling formidable foes to save the realm from impending doom. Promising deep character customization, engaging storytelling, and seamless blend of classic RPG elements with modern mechanics. Baldur’s Gate 3 is shaping up to be an unforgettable gaming experience for both newcomers and long-time fans of the series.
