The ESO Templar PvE Healer Build has historically been a great choice if you are wanting to play as a healer. They have a class-specific skill line that is purely dedicated to providing powerful heals. Whether you are a newer player just starting out, or an experienced end-game trials healer, the templar will likely always be a great choice for healing.
Last updated January, 21st, 2023. The sets should now have a variety of options for trials and dungeon healing. Healer gear and skills are very group dependent. You’ll want to start with whatever your healer is running in a trial or if solo, stick to basic sets like Spell Powered Cure. Then focus on resource sustain for the group. Finally add as many damage added sets to pump up your DPS. Always try and coordinate with your team mates so you’re not running useless or unneeded sets.
Pros
- Easiest Healer
- No Aim Burst Heal
- Great Resources
Cons
- Less utility than Necromancer or Warden
- Lower Heals per Second
Video Guide
Skills
Front Bar: Restoration Staff
We use restoration staff for main healing abilities. Important note for resource management: Thanks to Cycle of Life passive your fully-charged Heavy Attacks with restoration staff restore 30% more Magicka. And because of Essence Drain passive, you gain Major Mending for 4 seconds after completing a fully-charged Heavy Attack, increasing your healing done by 16%.
Illustrious Healing (Morph of Grand Healing | Skill line: Restoration Staff) - Main AoE heal over time ability with a big radius. Keep this heal up, especially when stationary, also used to proc sets requiring a ground cast ability.
Energy Orb (Morph of Necrotic Orb | Skill line: Undaunted) - A great heal over time with burst heal synergy. It's a slow traveler but does everything for you as a healer. Keeps people's resources flowing via undaunted synergy passive, huge burst healing anyone can activate and massive heals over time. Only downside is it's not mobile and doesn't have great range.
Breath Of Life (Morph of Rushed Ceremony | Skill line: Restoring Light) - Incredibly powerful burst heal, one of the best in the game. Heals you or a wounded ally in front of you for a massive amount, and also heals one other injured target for less than the normal amount. The upside of breath is it requires no aiming, making it the easiest and friendliness heal in the game.
Combat Prayer (Morph of Blessings of Protection | Skill line: Restoration Staff) - Burst healing in a line that can also give two important buffs. Consider this a flex spot on your bar and you can swap something in and out. The uptime on Minor Berserk is really what you want on this skill hanging in the back to spray DPS dust on all your targets.
Radiating Regeneration (Morph of Regeneration | Skill line: Restoration Staff) - Great multi-targeting heal over time ability, especially for mobile encounters, also helps to proc specific healer sets. Spam ability to cover more targets if needed. This helps proc our gear sets along with decent healing in high mobility fights, plus you can pre-cast before going into a pull for HoTs.
Reviving Barrier (Morph of Barrier | Skill line: Support) - An ultimate that applies massive damage shields to group members, and those shielded also receive healing over time. Provides extra Magicka Recovery through Support skill line passive when slotting this ultimate ability. If a new player, consider slotting Remembrance from Templar's Restoring Light skill line. Another great option in high mobility fights is Life Giver which carries your healing for a brief time.
Back Bar: Destruction Staff - Lightning Staff
The second very important healer's responsibility is to apply synergies, buffs and debuffs. Thanks to destruction staff passive Elemental Force you have double chances to apply the so-called: status effect. Also, certain 5-piece gear sets require a fully-charge heavy attack to proc extra effect e.g. Roaring Opportunist or Stone-Talker's Oath. Make sure to keep in your rotation a fully-charged heavy attack window to keep high uptime.
- Ice staff - used to support the group and to get Chilled status effect, which applies Minor Maim and Minor Brittle, reducing target’s damage done and increasing the critical damage done to the target. (primarily used by tanks because of its extra block mitigation and shield, but often healers)
- Inferno Staff - for extra damage and Burning status effect (DPS choice, also healers to add group damage)
- Lightning Staff - for higher AoE damage and to get Concussion status effect which applies Minor Vulnerability for 4 seconds, increasing the enemies' damage taken, also can proc off balance. Easy to aim thanks to channelling. (mostly used by healers, good for beginners)
Channeled Focus (Morph of Rune Focus | Skill line: Restoring Light) - Great armor buff and sustain ability for yourself. Applies Major Resolve increasing your Physical and Spell Resistance. Restores Magicka every second ability is active, heals yourself while standing in area and also procs Sacred Ground passive in Restoring Light skill line, granting you Minor Mending increasing your healing done. If armor buff and sustain is not needed, swap it out for flex skill.
Extended Ritual (Morph of Cleansing Ritual | Skill line: Restoring Light) - Strong AoE healing ability that cleanses harmful effects from yourself and heals you and nearby allies in the area. Allies can activate a synergy that heals and cleanses all harmful effects from themselves. Also procs Sacred Ground passive in Restoring Light skill line, granting you Minor Mending while standing in the area, increasing your healing done.
Elemental Blockade (Morph of Wall of Elements | Skill line: Destruction Staff) - Ground cast AoE ability, primarily used to apply status effects that debuff and weapon enchant, making it ideal to use Lighting or Ice staff.
Overflowing Altar (Morph of Blood Altar | Skill line: Undaunted) - Altar in a trial is exceptional because the healing it provides during prolonged stationary fights. Moreover, added synergies means more resource sustain for your group. However, I do flex this ability in and out depending on the situation, gear set and mobility of the encounter. HIGH MOBILITY - I like the Luminous Shard skill to toss at the tank when I can't reach with orbs. GEAR SET - I run echoing vigor skill with Powerful Assault on the back bar.
Purifying Light (Morph of Backlash | Skill line: Dawns Wrath) - Mainly used for templar dawn's wrath passives and decent healing on target. Dawn's Wrath passive illuminate is unique and adds 10% spell damage for 20 seconds. You can use any skill line that you want, but keeping high uptime on this passive adds tons of DPS to your trials group or party.
Aggressive Horn (Morph of War Horn | Skill line: Assault) - One of the most important ultimate abilities for a support role. Grants Major Force increasing critical damage by 20%, also increases Max Magicka and Stamina by 10% for you and your group members. Prioritize use of this ultimate, it provides a huge damage boost to your group, coordinate with other support roles if possible to keep a high uptime.
Rotation
Healing
he premise here is to roll as many heals over time as possible to keep high up time on spell power cure and or another set. Build in a heavy attack after each cycle to keep sustain high. Then switch to burst healing mode if anyone drops to 50% or lower. Priorities are as follows:
- KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE
- high heals per second
- high up time on gear sets
- burst up allies who dip below 50%
- keep your resources high by heavy attacking in between rotation.
