Master each role in Dead Rails with this breakdown of all 13 class types, abilities, and gear. Pick your role and start dominating.

In Dead Rails, your class isn’t just a hat or a fancy weapon, it’s your lifeline. Each of the 13 classes offers a distinct survival strategy, from patching up allies as the Doctor to burning enemies to cinders as the Arsonist. But unlocking these classes requires Dead Rails Bonds, the game’s premium currency, and choosing the right one demands more than style points.
Whether you’re tanking hits in head-to-ankle armor as the Ironclad or gambling with lightning strikes as the High Roller, your class defines your role, your risks, and your rewards in this brutal wasteland.
Classes in Dead Rails
In Dead Rails, your class defines your strengths, weaknesses, and role in the unforgiving frontier. Below is a breakdown of all 13 classes, their costs, abilities, and starting gear.
Doctor (15 Bonds) acts as the team’s healer. They revive allies by sacrificing half their HP without needing bandages and start with 2 Snake Oil, 2 Bandages, and a Shovel. Ironclad (100 Bonds), the tank, trades 20% movement speed for heavy armor and begins with a Shoulder Armor, a Helmet, Chestplate, and a Shovel. The Alamo (50 Bonds) focuses on train defense, starting with a Helmet, 3 Barbed Wire, 3 Metal Sheets, and a Shovel.

Arsonist (20 Bonds) specializes in chaos, dealing double fire damage with 4 Molotovs. Conductor (50 Bonds) boosts train speed but sacrifices half their HP and starts weaponless, relying on 2 Coal. Cowboy (50 Bonds) offers a balanced start with a Revolver, 2 Ammo, a Saddle, and a Shovel.
Miner (15 Bonds) gathers resources efficiently, starting with 2 Coal, a Pickaxe, and a Mining Helmet. High Roller (50 Bonds) earns 1.5x coins but risks lightning strikes, beginning with only a Shovel. Vampire (75 Bonds) moves fast at night but avoids sunlight, starting with a Vampiric Knife and Shovel.
Priest (75 Bonds) nullifies lightning strikes and carries 2 Holy Water, a Crucifix, and a Shovel. Zombie (75 Bonds) heals by eating corpses but can’t use healing items, starting with a Shovel. Finally, No Class provides nothing but a Shovel, avoid it unless you enjoy hardship.
Each class requires Dead Rails Bonds, earned through gameplay. Prioritize unlocks based on your preferred playstyle: support, defense, damage, or resource management.
