The new job listings by CD Projekt Red have indicated that Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel might feature multiplayer elements.

CD Projekt Red is currently developing Project Orion in Boston. While there’s not much information regarding the game available yet, a recent job listing from the Polish studio suggests that a future Cyberpunk 2077 sequel multiplayer mode is certainly possible.
CD Projekt Red first announced Project Orion in 2022. But according to reports, the development of the title started in 2024, so it is in pre-production, and not much about it has been revealed. We still don’t know how it will connect to its predecessor or where the game is set. But we do know the developers are recruiting new individuals for the project currently.
Project Orion Might Feature Multiplayer Elements

Recruitment for Project Orion is still happening, and a recent job listing suggests that the development studio is currently searching for a Senior Gameplay Programmer for the sequel. On the surface, this might feel like a natural and usual position. However, many would find it intriguing that the job listing’s description says that the developer will have to build and maintain a system that will work for single-player and multiplayer modes.
This certain incident, mixed with some of the job listings from the Polish developers in the past, almost confirms the existence of or plans for a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel.
Additionally, back in November 2024, CD Projekt Red was reportedly looking for a Combat Designer. The job posting stated that the studio would appreciate experience with multiplayer games, but they did not list it as the primary requirement. Other than that, yet another job listing back in August 2024 implied that the studio plans on including a multiplayer mode in Project Orion. This particular job post was looking for a Lead Network Programmer, someone who can oversee and lead the development of online functionalities for future projects.
It is quite true that these job listings don’t officially confirm the existence of a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel. However, they do support the theory that Project Orion will possibly feature some multiplayer options.
Cyberpunk 2077′ Sequel Will Also Focus on Single-Player

Additionally, gamers who don’t prefer multiplayer have nothing to worry about because Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel will follow its predecessor and focus more on the single-player mode. CDPR’s CEO, Michael Nowakowski, has come out and stated that “cutting-edge single-player games” are here to stay, and fans can expect more of them from the Polish studio.
In simple terms, gamers can expect high-quality AAA single-player titles from CD Projekt Red in the future, as it is their current focus. However, the studio does not want to leave the other side of the demographic in the dust, so they are looking to provide the option of some multiplayer features so people can enjoy the games with their friends.
