In this guide, we’ll explore all nine of the Hot Springs Hydrologist Rewards in Death Stranding 2 and what they do.

Death Stranding 2 sees Sam spend most of his time out in the world, facing all sorts of dangers, including BTs, raiders, and Timefall. However, there are certain places on the map where he can go to simply relax, recharge, and rejuvenate for the journey ahead. Shelters and bases are a few such locations, but even more pleasant are the Hot Springs that dot the game world.
There are seven Hot Spring locations, out of which you’ll have to dig out the last five hot springs yourself with a special structure or tool. Each of these leads to special rewards from the Hydrologist. In this guide, we’ll explore all of the Hot Springs Hydrologist Rewards in Death Stranding 2 and how they benefit Sam.
How Do the Hot Springs in Death Stranding 2 Work?
The first two Hot Springs unlock sequentially, and you’ll have to progress far enough into the main story for them to be available. After that, you will need to go to the locations for the remaining hot springs and manually set those up with a Hot Spring Digger. Those hot springs provide useful temporary buffs for Sam. Also, you will get rewards from the Hydrologist NPC in Heartman’s Lab after unlocking these features on the map. Each Hot Spring you unlock becomes a permanent feature on the map.
You will be able to fast travel between all of the unlocked Hot Springs. To do this, simply put the bucket over Sam’s head while you’re taking a dip in one of these spots. However, keep in mind that you won’t be able to transport any cargo that you’re carrying when traveling this way. Instead, the game will store any cargo you have at that time on the specific Hot Spring terminal from where you fast traveled.
