Today, Bungie released a massive developer preview for sandbox changes coming in next season. In the preview, we get a look at multiple nerfs, buffs, adjustments, and outright changes to some undervalued or overvalued aspects of the sandbox. The most important changes towards build crafting are the Destiny 2 Exotic Armor Changes in Season 22.

Exotic armor changes are often massive shakeups in the meta equipment that are desired for all levels of gameplay. Some changes are outright nerfs to overly potent armor or specific builds while some are massive buffs to increase the usage in an otherwise lack luster exotic. Regardless, its sure to bring more builds to light and decrease usage of certain overpowered builds.

Hunter Exotic Armor Changes in Season 22

In Destiny 2, Hunter Exotic Armor changes will include pieces of armor such as Knucklehead Radar, Foetracer, Lucky Raspberry, and Renewal Grasps.

Knucklehead Radar

  • Current: Provides radar while you’re aiming. Enhances your radar resolution while crouched.
  • Update: Added the Foetracer Exotic (Visually marks targets. Deals more damage to low-health marked targets. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.) helmet buff to existing perks.

Foetracer

  • Curent: Visually marks targets. Deals more damage to low-health marked targets. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons
  • Update: When you deal damage with one of your abilities, you gain a damage bonus with weapons that have damage types matching your subclass damage type. Additionally, when you defeat an enemy you’ve damaged with one of your abilities (either with another ability or with a weapon with a damage type matching your subclass type), you will spawn one of the collectible objects associated with your subclass, such as Ionic Traces or Firesprites.

Lucky Raspberry

  • Current: Increases the chaining capabilities of Arc Bolt Grenade and has a chance to recharge it each time it deals damage. A full chain always recharges.
  • Update: It still will expand the chaining capabilities of Arc Bolt Grenades but now each time you damage an enemy with the lightning strikes from the jolted condition—as well as each time you pick up an ionic trace—you gain additional grenade energy. Also, the grenades gain intrinsic anti-overload stun.

Renewal Grasps

  • Current: Your Duskfield grenades have a much larger effect radius. Allies inside the Duskfield take reduced damage and targets inside the area deal reduced damage. Increases the base cooldown of the Duskfield Grenade from 62s to 152s
  • Update: Exotic perk still functions the same but removal of the increased base Duskfield grenade cooldown.

Titan Exotic Armor Changes in Season 22

Iin Season 22, Titan Exotic Armor changes will include items such as Icefall Mantle, Doom Fang Pauldrons, Path of the Burning Steps, Hallowfire Heart, and ACD/0 Feedback Fence in Destiny 2.

Icefall Mantle

  • Current: Replaces Barricade with Glacial Guard. Sets Class Ability Cooldown to Rally Barricade’s.
  • Update: Base perk will still function the same but now grants an escalating bonus to Stasis weapon damage when getting rapid Stasis kills. When you activate your class ability, you immediately gain the highest tier bonus.

Doom Fang Pauldrons

  • Current: Void melee kills give Super energy. While Sentinel Shield is active, melee kills recharge Shield Throw, which extends your Super on hits.
  • Update: Base perk will still function the same but now grants an escalating bonus to Void weapon damage when getting rapid Void kills. When you get a Void melee kill, you immediately gain the highest tier bonus.

Path of the Burning Steps

  • Current: Solar final blows periodically grant you an escalating bonus to weapon damage. You are harder to slow or freeze with Stasis, and when you break out, you take no damage from doing so, creating a burst of Solar energy around yourself.
  • Update: Base perk will still function the same but now getting a Solar Grenade kill now grants the highest tier Solar weapon damage bonus.

Eternal Warrior

  • Current: Arc final blows grant an escalating damage bonus with Arc weapons. Gain an overshield when activating Fists of Havoc, and gain the highest tier damage bonus to Arc weapons when your Fists of Havoc Super ends.
  • Update: The duration of the Arc weapon damage bonus when your Fist of Havoc Super ends has been extended to 30 seconds (from 10 seconds).

ACD/0 Feedback Fence

  • Current: Melee hits build energy. Being struck by a melee attack reduces incoming damage and unleashes the energy in a devastating explosion.
  • Update: Old perk completely reworked to, when melee hits give you an Armor Charge, you take reduced melee damage while you have that Armor Charge. Taking melee damage causes you to emit a burst of damaging Arc energy that jolts targets, consuming your Armor Charge and dealing more damage based on the number of stacks consumed.

Hallowfire Heart

  • Current: Improves the recharge rate of your Solar abilities. Greatly improves recharge rate while your Super is charged. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.
  • Update: Removed its base energy to Solar abilities and replaced it with a perk that will let you build more into Sunspots. The perk that greatly increases your ability regen rate when your Super is fully charged remains.

Warlock Exotic Armor Changes in Season 22

Warlock Exotic Armor changes will include exotics such as Winter’s Guile, Astrocyte Verse, Geomag Stabilizers, and Wings of Sacred Dawn in Destiny 2.

Astrocyte Verse

  • Current: Blink further and more frequently. Weapon readies quickly out of Blink and radar remains up. Provides a moderate benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.
  • Update: Its base perks will remain and added to it are, enemies near you when you Blink become volatile. Additionally, when you’re using the Nova Warp Super, the Dark Blink ability no longer consumes Super energy

Geomag Stabilizers

  • Current: Damaging targets with Chaos Reach extends its duration.
  • Update: Base perk remains, now picking up an ionic trace while wearing this Exotic will grant Guardians additional Super energy.

Wings of Sacred Dawn

  • Current: When Dawnblade is equipped, aiming weapons while you’re midair suspends you there for a short time, improving airborne accuracy, reducing incoming flinch, and granting damage resistance. Weapon hits extend this effect’s duration. Provides a large benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.
  • Update: Keeping its base perk this Exotic now automatically reloads Solar weapons from reserves each time you get a kill while aiming down sights.

Winter’s Guile

  • Current: Eliminating enemies with melee attacks increases your melee damage.
  • Update: Base perk still remains but while using stasis, combatants encased by your Penumbral Blast melee will automatically shatter after a short delay.

A lot of these changes look like great adjustments to underutilized exotics allowing them to fit in a variety of new builds. Should these changes translate well to the live game, there are definitely some meta shaking options available here.
