Welcome to Destiny 2 Explosive Personality God Roll guide! It’s a solar wave frame special ammo grenade launcher (GL) released during Bungie’s Season of the Risen. Wave Frame GL’s are fantastic weapons for add (additional units) clear and area control. Wave frames do function slightly different, than most weapons in the game. The best way to use them is to shoot in front of the enemy as they release a wave of energy forward from where they make contact. This weapon, like other seasonal weapons, will not be regularly obtainable after the Lightfall DLC release.

How to Obtain Explosive Personality
In order to obtain and craft this weapon you need the season pass for Season of the Risen, and the Witch Queen DLC. You can receive it as a drop completing Risen seasonal activities or focus it through the seasonal kiosk in the Helm. The Explosive Personality is craftable upon obtaining and completing five deepsight resonance versions of the weapons. There are two upgrades you will need in your seasonal upgrade path to ensure you are farming as efficiently as possible: Weapon Decoding Clearance, and Deepsight Requisition.
PVE – Explosive Personality God Roll
Slot | Perk |
Barrel | Quick Launch |
Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds |
Perk 1 | Auto-Loading Holster |
Perk 2 | One For All |
Origin Trait | Lank Tank |
Masterwork | Handling |
Mod | Minor Spec |
Barrel: For the barrel perk, we are going with Quick Launch. This gives a boost in velocity and handling letting our shot reach the enemies feet sooner and allowing us to swap to this weapon faster.
Magazine: With the magazine there are only two choices for wave frame GLs. The one that benefits us the most is High-Velocity Rounds. The boost in velocity lets our shots reach our enemies faster and the reload helps get out more shots faster.
Perk 1: Auto-Loading Holster is the must-have perk here. With this perk the weapon will automatically reload a shot after a short duration while holstered. Not having to manually reload and your weapon being ready for use simply by not using it for a few seconds is incredibly strong.
Part 2: Lastly, One For All is the second highest damage perk available on this weapon but the easiest to activate. Simply by hitting 3 separate enemies you get a large non-refreshable damage boost for ten seconds.
Masterwork: For the masterwork, handling is the obvious pick. Handling allows us to swap weapons faster. Since we are swapping on and off this weapon for our auto-loading to activate, it’s important we do that as fast as possible to get the highest uptime.
Mod: Minor Spec is the go to option here. This is an add clear weapon it’s important we stack into our damage to make sure we can clear as many enemies with a single shot as possible
Conclusion: Overall, Explosive Personality is a potent add clear weapon capable of clearing our entire rooms of enemies with a few shots. Paired with auto-loading holster and a strong damage perk this weapon will be able to take our any enemy in its path.
PVP – Explosive Personality God Roll
Slot | Perk |
Barrel | Quick Launch |
Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds |
Perk 1 | Genesis |
Perk 2 | Disruption Break |
Origin Trait | Land Tank |
Masterwork | Handling |
Mod | Freehand Grip |
Barrel: Following a similar theme with PVE, for the barrel perk we are going with Quick Launch. This gives a boost in velocity and handling letting our shot reach the enemies feet sooner and allowing us to swap to this weapon faster.
Magazine: As with our barrel we are copying PVE by going with High-Velocity Rounds. They boost our velocity letting our shots reach the enemy faster and the reload helps get out more shots faster.
Perk 1: For this column we are going with Genesis. Recently buffed, this will reload your weapon after breaking an enemies shield. This can help you fire two shots in rapid succession guaranteeing a kill if you hit both shots.
Perk 2: The obvious choice here is Disruption Break. Upon breaking an enemies shield they take increased damage from kinetic weapons. This makes it easier to clean up a kill after hitting them with the GL.
Masterwork: A Handling masterwork is a must have. This masterwork allows us to ready and aim down sights faster which could give you a small advantage in your engagements. This synergizes well with disruption break allowing us to swap weapons faster for a clean up kill.
Mod: Freehand Grip is a great choice here. This gives a small boost to ready speed and accuracy while firing from the hip. This can be strong to use while getting rushed by one or multiple enemies saving you time from having to aim down sights.
Conclusion: Special GLs aren’t the strong PVP weapon in the game but with a hot swap to a kinetic weapon after hitting them with this gun even the most skilled enemies will struggle to stay alive.
The Explosive Personality has great base stats and some really nice synergistic perks. Being a special wave frame GL, this weapon has potential to clear out entire rooms of enemies easily. In PVP, it’s a great choice for hitting multiple enemies standing on a point or controlling a doorway limiting your enemies movements.
