Fatebringer is a kinetic adaptive frame hand cannon introduced in the Vault of Glass reprised Raid during Season of the Splicer. The weapons were later updated to be craftable with new perk pools during Episode Heresy. Hand cannons are favored weapons for both PvE and PvP. Even if they aren’t always the most effective, their unique feel makes them satisfying to use in all content. Fatebringer is craftable and has an Adept version, referred to as Timelost for Vault of Glass weapons, that can be enhanced. In this guide, we will discuss the PvE and PvP god rolls and how to get the Fatebringer hand cannon.

How to Get Fatebringer in Destiny 2

You obtain the Fatebringer from the Vault of Glass raid found in the Legends activity node. Specifically, it can drop from the 3rd encounter, Templar, and the 4th encounter, Gatekeeper. In order to get the Fatebringer (Timelost), you must complete the Out of Its Way challenge in the master version of Vault of Glass. Once earned, the standard version of Fatebringer can be found in the hidden chest found throughout the raid and purchased at the end of raid chest after defeating Atheon. The Timelost version can be bought at the end of raid chest in the master version of the raid, provided the player has already earned the weapon once by completing the challenge.

A guaranteed Deepsight weapon can be earned if you complete the quest Fated Deepsight that is available at the Clan Vendor, Suraya Hawthorne, at the Tower Bazaar. Another Deepsight weapon is guaranteed to be available at the end of raid chest for your first purchase. Note that any weapons you purchase at the chest cannot have a Deepsight Harmonizer activated on them.

What Is the Fatebringer God Roll in Destiny 2?

The Fatebringer has a lot of great things going on for it for both PvE and PvP. There are really only a couple of traits that don’t work on the weapon for anything and even those aren’t terrible. Fatebringer’s PvE god roll will have you doing quite a bit of damage to all combatants. The PvP roll is also very powerful allowing for some really high stats and time to kill increases. Overall, the Fatebringer is a rare instance where you will want both rolls for the weapon.

PvE Fatebringer God Roll

The best perks for the Fatebringer PvE God Roll are Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, Explosive Payload, and One for All. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Fatebringer PvE God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Launcher Barrel: Fluted Barrel
  • Magazine: Tactical Mag
  • Column 3 Trait: Explosive Payload
  • Column 4 Trait: One for All
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed
  • Origin Trait: Timelost Arsenal
  • Weapon Mod: Heavy Ammo Enhancement

PvE Breakdown

Fatebringer has always been a fan-favorite in Destiny since it first came out in the original Vault of Glass back in 2014. This particular revision of the weapon has quite a lot going for it as well. Fluted Barrel and Tactical Mag are great for increasing the stability of the weapon. Don’t worry about increasing the range for PvE as much. A Reload Speed masterwork will help you keep ammo in the relatively smaller magazine, but you should be killing enemies quickly with the main trait combination.

The Fatebringer has some great options for its main perks for PvE. You could go for Rewind Rounds for the ammo economy or even opt for the always powerful Kinetic Tremors. We chose the always-reliable Explosive Payload for the damage increase and ease of use. Column 4 has great options as well like Frenzy, Firefly, or even the new Elemental Honing. One for All will give you the highest overall damage numbers and is ultimately what we decided to go with. Your mileage will vary with this hand cannon, but you can’t go wrong with a lot of great rolls on this hand cannon.

PvP Fatebringer God Roll

The best perks for the Fatebringer PvP God Roll are Hammer-forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Keep Away, and Magnificent Howl. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Fatebringer PvP God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Barrel: Hammer-forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Accurized Rounds
  • Column 3 Trait: Keep Away
  • Column 4 Trait: Magnificent Howl
  • Masterwork: Range
  • Origin Trait: Timelost Magazine
  • Weapon Mod: Ballistics

PvP Breakdown

While it’s certainly worth chasing the PvE roll of the Fatebringer, its the PvP roll that makes this weapon extra spicy. Make sure you get this hand cannon’s range as high as you can get by taking the often chosen traits for the barrel and magazine. Hammer-forged Rifling and Accurized Rounds will both get the range of the weapon up to 66 on their own. Taking a Range masterwork and then slotting a Ballistics mod combined with those traits will increase your overall effective damage falloff range by 5 meters. This can make or break you in a dualling situation.

The Fatebringer, like its PvE options, has multiple traits that will work in Columns 3 and 4. Either Opening Shot or Keep Away are great options, though it could be argued that Keep Away is the better option as it won’t fall off the first shot. This trait will get your range up even further and also increase the accuracy and reload speed of the weapon. This weapon does roll with the PvP mainstay trait of Eye of the Storm, but Magnificent Howl is the more unique option. Magnificent Howl is a trait that will reward you for the better you do in the crucible allowing for some really easy kills once you can get it rolling. This is definitely a hand cannon worth grabbing for PvP.
