How to Get Regnant in Destiny

To get Regnant in Destiny 2, players will need to own Season of Defiance and complete the “Awaken, Queensguard” mission. This will open up the Seasonal Playlist, Defiant Battlegrounds, which drops all of the Season of Defiance weapons, including Regnant. Defiant Battlegrounds have a chance to drop Regnant or another Defiant weapon or Armor Piece. You can use a Defiant Key to also get a Resonant version of Defiant weapons as well. The Defiant Battlegrounds playlist is found on the HELM.

You can also focus the Defiant Engrams that you earn at the War Table Found in the HELM as well if you have the Defiant Weapon Focusing War Table Upgrade. It cost 4 Defiant Engrams and 3000 Glimmer to do this.

In order to get more Deepsight Resonant Weapons quickly in order to craft, you should pick the following War Table upgrades when available: Defiant Weapon Focusing, Deepsight Decoding, and Queensguard’s Arsenal.

PvE – Regnant God Roll

The following list includes all Destiny 2 Regnant God Roll traits for PvE

Launcher BarrelHard Launch, Quick Launch
MagazineSpike Grenades
Perk 1Enhanced Auto-Loading Holster
Perk 2Enhanced Explosive Light
Origin TraitNoble Deeds
MasterworkVelocity, Handling
ModBoss Spec

Launcher Barrel: For our barrel perk, we want to mitigate adding to our Blast Radius while increasing our velocity. Hard Launch does this best, but comes at a cost to our stability. Quick Launch increases our velocity and handling with no cost. I personally prefer Quick Launch. Smart Drift Control is also a decent option. Note that of all the perks that matter on the god roll, this is the least important. If everything else is what it needs to be but this is not, do not feel the need to keep grinding this weapon out..

Magazine: Spike Grenades are the king of DPS on grenade launchers. Because of how they work, we want higher velocity and lower blast radius to get the most damage out of them. I would argue that of all the perks recommended here, this one is the most important to be specific. Spike Grenades or bust.

Column 3 Perk: Our best perk for this particular grenade launcher is Auto-Loading Holster. Its simple and easy to use. Shoot out your drum, switch to another weapon to do some damage, then switch back to a fully loaded Grenade Launcher. Other perks to keep an eye on in this slot are Repulsor Brace and Envious Assassin. One is great for Void Builds with the other possibly being decent when using the Grenade Launcher as an add clearing weapon. Remember to put on the Enhanced Version when crafting.

Column 4 Perk: Explosive Light is one of the absolute best perks for damage you can get on a Grenade Launcher. It does require a bit of set-up, needing you to pick up an orb of Light to get the buff on a shot. This should be easy enough though as most DPS phases will start in a Well of Radiance anyway. Other perks that can be interesting here are Cascade Point or the new Destabilizing Rounds for Void builds. Enhance your perks when crafting!

Origin: No choice here. There is only one trait. A fun little passive benefit.

Masterwork: A Handling masterwork allows quicker aiming down sights and faster swap speeds, which are extremely helpful for getting this weapon out and dealing damage quickly. A Velocity masterwork also will directly increase your damage by a decent amount. Either is a fine roll, with Velocity being preferred.

Mod: As a primarily boss damaging weapon, we are going to want to put on our boss spec mod to have us doing as much damage as possible.

Conclusion: The Regnant seems to be an excellent Heavy Grenade Launcher for PvE especially considering it is craftable and can get Explosive Light. If you didn’t get a great Wendigo then this is a very good substitute.

PvP – Regnant God Roll

The following list includes all Destiny 2 Regnant God Roll traits for PvP

Launcher BarrelVolatile Launch
MagazineHigh-Explosive Ordnance
Perk 1Enhanced Thresh
Perk 2Enhanced Disruption Break
Origin TraitNoble Deeds
MasterworkHandling
ModQuick Access Sling

Launcher Barrel: For PvP, we are going the complete opposite route with this weapon. We want to hit our targets easily when they are moving, and that means more Blast Radius. You’re gonna see a trend with these perks, and for our first one we want Volatile Launch.

Magazine: There are few Magazine perks that could work here, but my personal choice is High Explosive Ordinance. Blast Radius for days.

Column 3 Perk: Finding a perk in this column that works in PvP is challenging, but Thresh is probably the best option. Rangefinder is also a decent choice, but honestly this weapon definitely feels more like a PvE weapon.

Column 4 Perk: Disruption Break was the only perk here that seemed moderately decent for PvP except for may Unrelenting. Both of them require kills for activation, and chances are if you are using the grenade launcher effectively their effects aren’t going to matter much by the time you run out of ammo.

Origin: No choice here. There is only one trait. A fun little passive benefit.

Masterwork: Blast Radius is the only stat that matters. We want to be able to hit the ground near a target and do as much damage as possible.

Mod: For mods we want to use Quick Access Sling for draw time on the base version of the weapon. If you have the Adept version, use Adept Blast Radius.

Conclusion: Heavy Grenade Launchers are a niche choice for PvP at most times. Regnant very much feels like it was designed for PvE rather than PvP, but you can make it work. I would just craft the PvE roll and use something else for PvP. There are just so many better options.
