Players can acquire the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher as part of the Season 23, Season of the Wish seasonal rewards. Season pass holders will immediately unlock the Rocket Launcher, while non-season pass holders can obtain it at level 35. This Rocket Launcher offers two unique exotic perks:

  • Composite Propellant: Rockets embed themselves in struck targets and periodically eject incendiary fuel that inflicts Scorch. The longer this weapon goes without firing, the more fuel the next rocket contains.
  • High Octane: Igniting nearby targets partially replenishes fuel. This weapon refills itself from reserves upon gaining maximum fuel.

These exotic perks introduce innovative mechanics to Destiny 2, potentially enabling efficient boss burning and enemy clearing. However, their true impact on the game’s meta will require further testing and community feedback.

Dragon’s Breath Catalyst Exotic Quest

An Old Flame Catalyst Quest - D2

Once you unlock the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Weapon, travel to the Tower and visit Banshee-44 who has the exotic quest. This exotic quest is titled An Old Flame and can be completed by defeating enemies using this weapon. You will need to complete the following task to complete the Dragon’s Breath Catalyst:

  • Defeat 50 Scorched Targets
  • Defeat 5 bosses with this weapon

The Scorched status effect is applied when you use solar abilities and incandescent weapons.  The Calus Mini-Tool submachine gun is a great weapon for this purpose.

Dragon’s Breath Catalyst Bonus

Once you’ve completed the requirements for this catalysis, you will unlock the Pyromancer buff bonus. The Pyromancer Catalyst replenishes this weapon’s fuel faster, and defeating targets with this weapon causes them to periodically drop Firesprites. Firesprite is an elemental pickup of solar energy that, when obtained, grants grenade energy.
