Destiny 2 Irukandji Sniper Rifle

Destiny 2 Irukandji God Roll and How to Get

Welcome to our Destiny 2 Irukandji God Roll Guide Guide. Irukandji is a Rapid-Fire Frame that can be obtained as a world drop and can be purchased through banshee or obtained by earning faction rank-up packages. Rapid-Fire Frames are great in PvE because they shoot fast and have increased ammo reserves. This weapon is not great in PvP because of its low-range stat. Sniper rifles need a high-range stat in PvP so they can tract their targets better.  Irukandji was introduced in the Lightfall expansion.

Why You Should Get Irukandji Sniper Rifle?

You should get Irukandji Sniper Rifle because it has a very strong perk combination for boss damage. The perks listed here help us do extra damage while we are near allies and allow us to get bullets back to the magazine just from landing rapid precision hits. Snipers have always been a good weapon to use against champions simply because of the range they have. It is better to take down a champion before they get close to you. Here’s our list of why you should get Irukandji Sniper Rifle:

  • Ranged weapon
  • Non-exotic Boss/champion damage weapon
  • Veist Stinger Origin trait weapons get ammo back on landing hits
  • Rapid-Fire Frame weapons have increased ammo reserves
  • Easy to collect as a random drop or purchased through Banshee

PvE – Irukandji God Roll

BarrelSmallbore
MagazineFlared Magwell
Perk 1Fourth Time’s the Charm
Perk 2Firing Line
Origin TraitVeist Stinger
MasterworkReload Speed
ModBoss Spec

Barrel: For the barrel we will want to use Smallbore or you can flex it for Hammer-Forged Rifling. Smallbore gives us +7 range and stability which is very helpful to extend the guns damage fall of. The extra stability it gives us allows us to be able to maintain our reticle on the target so we can keep landing those headshots.  If you get one with Hammer-Forged Rifling all you get is +10 range which is not bad overall.

Magazine: The magazine is very important for this gun. Flared Magwell provides the gun with reload speed and stability. These two stat boost allows us to be able to maintain our damage and the more stability the easier headshots will be. We do not use any magazine that provides extra ammo because it will mess up the perk Fourth Time’s the Charm proc which will be explained in the next section.

Column 3 Perk: The best perk hands down for this gun is  Fourth Time’s the Charm. Scoring 4 Precision Hits refunds 2 Ammo to Magazine. Precision Hit counter is reset if no Precision Hits are scored within two seconds. This perk allows us to maintain a constant stream of damage. The ammo provided from Fourth Time’s the Charm is free and will not take from your reserves allowing you to maintain a stable ammo economy.

Column 4 Perk: Our main damage perk is Firing Line. Firing Line provides a 20% damage boost when near 2 or more allies. If you play solo consider taking Focused Fury as a flex perk it offers the same damage bonus but requires you to land half your magazine ammo capacity in order to get a 20% damage buff. You really want to use this weapon next to your teammates to get maximum damage value.

Masterwork: For your masterwork you want Reload Speed. In short the faster you reload the more damage you will be able to dish out.

Mod: Lastly for our mod you want to use Boss Spec. this mod adds 7.77% Damage against Bosses and Vehicles. We are using this sniper for bosses so lets make sure we do extra damage to them.

Conclusion: Irukandji has some great potential for damage but gets outshined by a majority of the crafted weapons. With that being said there is no other decent Veist Stinger sniper in the game. Veist Stinger has a chance to return 25% of the magazine directly to the magazine which helps us continue our damager so consider picking up this sniper if you want to do constant damage.

PvP – Irukandji God Roll

BarrelHammer-Forged Rifling
MagazineAccurized Rounds
Perk 1Under Pressure
Perk 2Opening Shot
Origin TraitVeist Stinger
MasterworkRange
ModTargeting Adjuster

Barrel: For our barrel we want Hammer-Forged Rifling. Hammer-Forged Rifling offers a solid +10 to the range stat which in PvP allows the weapon to gain better targeting. Destiny guns in crucible have a hidden stat known as bullet magnetism which is provided by the range stat. Bullet magnetism means how well the weapon will be able to hit its target when you are aiming while they are moving. In short the more range a weapon has the more bullet magnetism it will get.

Magazine: We want to use  Accurized Rounds because it offers a solid +10 to the range stat. Once again bullet magnetism is buffed by the range stat so we to get as much range on this sniper as we can get.

Column 3 Perk: Our first perk is going to be Under Pressure. Under Pressure provides bonus accuracy as the magazine gets lower. In crucible you will always tend to have low ammo because of the ammo economy. Since you will always have low ammo you will always get the buff provided by Under Pressure.

Column 4 Perk: For our next perk we want Opening Shot. Opening Shot gives us greatly improved accuracy and range on the opening shot of attack. The key words for this is opening shot of attack. We do not need a full magazine to gain this buff we just need to wait 3 seconds for the perk to be active again. Opening Shot’s improved accuracy makes it very easy for us to land headshots against opponents.

Masterwork: We will want Range masterwork so we can get more bullet magnetism so we can get those headshots more consistent.

Mod: Finally we will use Targeting Adjuster so we can get extra aim assist with our gun. Aim assist also works for mouse and keyboard so feel free to use this if you play on PC.

Conclusion: Irukandji is not the best PvP sniper since it has a very low range stat. This gun has some great perks to make it useable in PvP since most of the higher ranged sniper rifles do not have the perk Under pressure. In short if you get a God Roll Irukandji lock it and keep it since it is a decent weapon.
