Live Fire is a stasis precision frame sniper rifle introduced into the world loot pool during Episode: Revenant. Scout Rifles are effective ranged options in both PvE and PvP. Precision frame scout rifles are the most average option, with a decent fire rate and range. The Live Fire can be enhanced, granting it access to enhanced perks in Columns 3 and 4. In this guide, we will discuss the PvE and PvP god rolls and how to get the Live Fire scout rifle.

How to Get Live Fire in Destiny 2

You obtain the Live Fire from any Legendary engram source, Banshee-44, or from Legendary Lost Sectors. Legendary Lost Sectors rotate daily and the available weapons also rotate with them. As a world drop weapon, the Live Fire can be awarded from any reward source that does not pull from any direct playlist loot pool.

What Is the Live Fire God Roll in Destiny 2?

A god roll is the best combination of perks and masterwork that a weapon can get. God rolls are often sought after as they are considered the ultimate drop of that weapon and the most effective roll used in most content. In most situations, there are two god rolls for any gun, a roll for PvE and one for PvP. The Live Fire scout rifle has an effective, powerful PvE god roll even if it isn’t the most interesting one. In PvP, the Live Fire should be an effective scout for duels but will get out classed by harder-hitting or faster firing options.

PvE Live Fire God Roll

The best perks for the Live Fire PvE God Roll are Arrowhead Brake, Appended Mag, Rapid Hit, and Rampage. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Live Fire PvE God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
  • Magazine: Appended Mag
  • Column 3 Trait: Rapid Hit
  • Column 4 Trait: Rampage
  • Masterwork: Reload Speed
  • Origin Trait: Field Tested
  • Weapon Mod: Heavy Ammo Finder Enhancement

PvE Breakdown

Scout Rifles are typically taken into harder content where range is a must have option. Grandmaster Nightfalls with lots of open space are the typical use case of scout rifles of all types. They suffer at close range, so bringing in an alternative method of dealing with enemies who get close is necessary. The Live Fire has a terrible recoil direction stat, so Arrowhead Brake is a great barrel pick on this weapon. Appended Mag or Flared Magwell will also help with its mildly poor magazine size.

Scout rifles are great because they are solid and dependable. They don’t really do anything particularly special; they are just great at dealing with enemies at a safer range. It stands to reason that simple and effective perks build into this rather basic use case. Rapid Hit is a common trait to see on all scout rifles as it improves the stats of the weapon for getting precision hits quickly. Pairing that with the damage trait, Rampage, you can do a lot of damage quickly against enemies at a long range. Just make sure you don’t push up to quickly or things can overwhelm you if you don’t have a close-range back-up. Shoot to Loot is also a decent option for ammo economy reasons.

Other PvE Rolls of Note

  • Rimestealer / Headstone
    • A Stasis synergy option

PvP Live Fire God Roll

The best perks for the Live Fire PvP God Roll are Hammer-forged Rifling, Ricochet Rounds, Rapid Hit, and To the Pain. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

The following list is the best perks for the Live Fire PvP God Roll in Destiny 2:

  • Barrel: Hammer-forged Rifling
  • Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
  • Column 3 Trait: Rapid Hit
  • Column 4 Trait: To the Pain
  • Masterwork: Range
  • Origin Trait: Field-Tested
  • Weapon Mod: Ballistics

PvP Breakdown

Scout rifles can be an effective choice in PvP in the right hands for longer-range maps. That being said precision frame scouts like the Live Fire tend to be the least favored in PvP. They lack the forgiveness of high-impact frames while also lacking the fast fire rate of rapid-fire frames. They can still be effective but require absolute precision. Improving the range with Hammer-forged Rifling or the recoil with Arrowhead Brake will be the most effective options on your barrel. Ricochet Rounds remains one of the better PvP options on weapons that have it, making it an easy pick for your magazine perk.

Bungie very much looks to be pushing in air combat with the Life Fire scout rifle, as it has both Perfect Float and Air Trigger in column 3. That particular playstyle doesn’t really go well with scout rifles except on very specific builds though, making it very niche. Instead we opted for a more dueling weapon with the perks Rapid Hit and To the Pain. Rapid Hit will increase the stats for every precision hit you make, and To the Pain will do the same thing but when you take hits. Increasing your effectiveness for both dealing and receiving damage will make this weapon effective in one on one situations.
