Destiny 2 Riptide PvE & PvP God Roll and How to Get

Learn the Destiny 2 Riptide fusion rifle god roll for PvE and PvP content, the best perks, and how to get it!

Destiny 2 Riptide
Destiny 2 Riptide Fusion Rifle

Riptide is a Rapid-Fire Frame Stasis Fusion Rifle introduced in the Crucible playlist during Season of the Haunted. An easy to acquire weapon with a large perk pool with several great options for PvE and PvP. Additionally, it is one of the best support weapons for endgame PvE.

The Riptide’s large perk pool makes getting a god roll difficult, but it can be focused at Lord Shaxx to farm this weapon specifically. It is absolutely worth getting a roll with Chill Clip. If you can get the PvE god roll, that is all the better. Don’t sleep on this weapon in PvP either as it does great there as well.

Riptide PvE God Roll

Our best perks choices for the Riptide PvE God Roll are:

FeaturePerk
BarrelArrowhead Brake
BatteryEnhanced Battery
Column 3 TraitAuto-Loading Holster
Column 4 TraitChill Clip
MasterworkCharge Time

Arrowhead Brake is almost always my go-to option for barrel perk on any weapon that doesn’t have a vertical recoil pattern. Battery options are a little more nuanced, but Enhanced Battery gets an extra shot of Chill Clip which is the reason we want this weapon. Anything that helps Charge Time is also useful.

Unlike most fusion rifles, we aren’t looking to improve our damage with this weapon. Instead, we are making a super-powerful utility weapon that will deal with every Champion type in one way or another. Chill Clip stuns Overload Champions with slow, and then three shots will freeze a target. That stuns Unstoppables and stops Barriers from being able to put up their shield. For Column 3, Auto-Loading Holster will make sure your weapon is always topped off so Chill Clip can activate.

Riptide is one of the best PvE weapons to get for its utility. It is ubiquitously one of the best weapons for support in the game.

Riptide PvP God Roll

Our best perks choices for the Riptide PvP God Roll are:

FeaturePerk
BarrelHammer-Forged Rifling
BatteryProjection Fuse
Column 3 TraitUnder Pressure
Column 4 TraitCornered
MasterworkRange

Regarding all the minor perks, anything that improves Range is the way to go for PvP. Arrowhead Brake is still a great choice as well.

Unlike the PvE roll, where the Riptide is unique, the PvP god roll pretty much is exactly the same as all Fusion Rifle rolls for PvP. Under Pressure and Cornered are both staples for Fusion Rifle PvP, and they are still great on this weapon. Successful Warm-Up is also a great option as well.

While not nearly as needed to have as the PvE roll, getting a PvP roll of this weapon is still a good choice as well. There aren’t many fusion rifles that can be in the kinetic slot, with only a couple with better perks for PvP. And those are arguably harder to farm.

How to Get the Riptide in Destiny 2

Riptide can be obtained from any Crucible reward source. This includes end-of-match rewards in any Crucible Playlist (including Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris), Lord Shaxx’s Weekly Challenge, and turning in Crucible Engrams.
