Bungie announced today that they are recasting the English voice actor for Commander Zavala in Destiny 2.

Today, in their latest blog post, Bungie announced that they would recasting the Vanguard Commander, Zavala. The English Voice Actor, Lance Reddick, sadly passed away earlier this year. This had a profound effect on Guardians across the globe (myself included), leading to several in game vigils for the respected actor. While this may come as a shock to some, Bungie feels that the character is not finished in the story of Destiny and has hired prolific actor, Keith David, to take on the role. Bungie says:
“Keith David, a prolific actor on the stage and in television, film, and games, will assume the English language voice of Zavala in The Final Shape and beyond. Separately, Lance’s existing lines in-game will remain untouched for the upcoming release.”
I am excited to see what Keith brings to the role of Commander Zavala, but I will always have a special in my heart for Lance’s performance. I’m glad that Bungie has decided not to remove Lance’s old lines so that he may continue to live on through his performance. That being said the future for Zavala is moving forward… whether we wanted it or not…
