Destiny 2 Arc Hunter Solo Build

This Destiny 2 Arc Hunter Solo Build is for those players who are wanting unbelievable survivability. This subclass is all about melee pressure and throttling down on melee strikes for healing and survival.  This is the build I use to farm solo lost sectors or other content.

Last Updated March 2, 2023, for Lightfall Expansion and Season 20, Season of Defiance.  Destiny 2 has gone through a major change with their modding system.  Making mods much easier and simpler to understand but taking some of the old metas and either eliminating them or making them relevantly the same.  For instance, the “well” mods most players have been accustomed to have been completely eliminated and really the only system and combination are based of orbs of power. The mod loadout you see today will change over time as we become accustomed to new and shifting meta in Destiny 2 Lightfall.  This loadout has been tested and works, so check back frequently as we will be updating these builds throughout the season and expansion.

Should you play Arc Hunter Solo?

Destiny 2 Arc Hunter Solo Build

Arc Hunter has a few essential strengths and a unique playstyle, making it incredibly fun to play. If following “Pros” is what you’re looking for, this is the build for you!

Pros

Cons

Insane healing Melee focused
Big AoE damage hyper aggressive playstyle
Melee monster Exotic dependent
One of the best supers
Super fast

What is the Best Hunter Build?

The Arc Hunter Build has blazing fast speed, high melee damage and great survivability with the right exotic equipped  This is one of the most fun and playstyle that centers on aggression.  As long as you keep up the pressure and constantly in melee and completing melee kills you be very survivable.  Moreover, with Assassin’s Cowl you can still enter stealth not even being a Void Hunter!

Solo Arc Hunter Build Playstyle

The playstyle with this class centers around the exotic Assassin’s Cowl. This you earn for completing Shadowkeep campaign and powered melee final blows  heal you, give invisibility and shield.  Thus, you’re constantly building to increase melee damage and reduce the cool down.  Arc also has very high movement speed which plays into the fast aggressive and in your face playstyle vs a standard ranged sniper feel.

Abilities

Some abilities, aspects and fragments need to be unlocked before use. In order to do that, Destiny 2 players need to visit Ikora in the Tower and do the related quest or purchase them from her. Lastly, if you bought new aspects and fragments don’t forget to “meditate”. Simply click the “meditate” option on the table next to Ikora.

Arc Buffs & Debuffs

Lightfall saw a revamp of core buffs and debuff for each class.

Arc

  • Spark of Instinct (New!)
    • When critically wounded, taking damage from nearby enemies emits a burst of damaging Arc energy that Jolts targets.
  • Spark of Haste (New!)
    • You have greatly increased resilience, recovery, and mobility while sprinting.
  • Blind (Debuff) – Disorients the combatants preventing them from firing their weapons. For players, it removes the hud and obscures their vision.
  • Jolted (Debuff) – Charges the target with the Arc Light and takes additional damage, also chain lightning to nearby enemies.
  • Amplified (Buff) – The buff is activated by defeating targets with Arc damage. This buff grants +50 Mobility, increases sprint speed, slide distance, jump height, and grants improved weapon handling for 15 seconds. The buff can also be activated upon landing four rapid Arc kills against red bar combatants, Stronger enemies like majors give more progress. When you are granted the Speed Boost buff so long as you keep sprinting you will not lose it even if Amplified is gone Speed Boost remains.
  • Ionic Trace (Buff) – Sends the bolt of Arc energy on the ground, which if picked up grants you energy. Traces only spawn for their creator and aggressively track to their location *Traces only spawn for their creator and aggressively track to their location

Gathering Storm

Gambler's Dodge

Triple Jump

Pulse Grenade

Combination Blow
Gathering Storm (Super Ability): Hurl your Arc Staff forward, embedding it into surfaces or large targets and jolting nearby targets. After a short time, a devastating lightning bolt strikes the staff, overcharging it with Arc energy. While overcharged, your staff discharges lightning at nearby foes. his is our big burst super. Use it right at the beginning or right at the end of a big damage phase to see massive damage hit your enemy all at once. Effective against bosses or a large choke point for ads
Gambler's Dodge (Class Ability): Dodge to perform a deft tumble, avoiding enemy attacks. Dodging near enemies fully recharges your Melee Ability.\nDodge to perform a deft tumble, avoiding enemy attacks. Dodging near enemies fully recharges your Melee Ability. This dodge is nice because it gives us back our charged melee. Used in conjunction with Combination Blow we can basically always have a dodge or charged melee available.
Triple Jump (Movement Ability): While airborne, sustain your air control with a second or third jump. This really comes down to personal preference, so feel free to flex another jump if you prefer it.
Pulse Grenade (Grenade): A grenade that periodically damages targets within its explosion radius. massive AoE damage!
Combination Blow (Melee): A quick strike that temporarily increases your melee damage when defeating a target, stacking three times. Defeating targets with this ability also fully refills your class ability energy and restores a small amount of health. Defeating targets with this ability also fully refills your class ability energy and restores a small amount of health. Combined with exotic gloves, this melee can have our hunter builds do absolutely amazing damage and keep us alive. Using this in conjunction with One-Two Punch shotguns is going to make our damage numbers absolutely crazy.

Aspects

Flow State

Lethal Current
Flow State: Defeating a jolted target makes you amplified. While you are amplified, your dodge recharges more quickly, you are more resilient while dodging, and your reload speed is greatly increased. This aspect basically gives amplification for free with some other buffs for jolting targets giving us back dodge/melee quicker.
Lethal Current: After dodging, your next melee attack has increased lunge range, jolts the target, and creates a damaging aftershock. Damaging any jolted target with melee attacks also blinds them. This aspect jolts targets when we melee them after a dodge, which we are basically going to always be doing.

Fragments

Spark of Resistance

Spark of Recharge

Spark of Frequency

Spark of Feedback
Spark of Resistance: While surrounded by combatants, you are more resistant to incoming damage. Your going to be surrounded by enemies a lot, granting you more resistance to their attacks will help immensely
Spark of Recharge: While critically wounded, your melee and grenade energy regenerates more quickly. We are going to be taking a lot of damage and ability up time is key for us.
Spark of Frequency: Melee hits greatly increase your reload speed for a short duration. Meleeing enemies grants us more reload. Its just a nice passive benefit from doing what we already are going to be doing.
Spark of Feedback: Taking melee damage briefly increases your outgoing melee damage. More Resilience and melee buff. Passive benefits!

Gear

Kinetic Weapons

PvE is always a situational piece in Destiny. What content you are doing always has a significant effect on your loadout. I will list some great options that work in most situations but note that you will most likely have to change things out. This build encourages you to use stasis weapons over anything else to get that sweet damage buff though.

If you have a special weapon here, run a primary in your energy slot or vice versa. You can also run primary weapons in both slots, but double special weapons are typically not the best play except in very certain situations. Remember that these are suggestions and you will definitely have to switch weapons out.

Ragnhild-D

Auto-Loading Holster

One-Two Punch

Arbalest

Compounding Force

Disruption Break
Witherhoard: Source: Exotic Archive at the Tower. Huge single target and AoE damage over time perfect for trash pulls and boss damage.
Ragnhild-D: An easy to acquire Shotgun that can be focused at the Star Chart at the HELM. Shotguns aren’t the Meta in PvE typically, but for this build its practically required to pull off the damage numbers. This is a craftable weapon.
Arbalest: Obtained as a random drop through exotic engrams or bought from Xur on random rotation. Arbalest is one of the most used special weapons in PvE and for good reason. Its damage is great, it penetrates Barrier Champion shields, and can break through any elemental shield as well. No one will question you if you have this weapon equipped.

IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3: Obtained from Season of the Plunder Activities. This weapon can roll with Joltshot and pairs great with Arc 3.0 builds. This is a craftable weapon.
Funnelweb: Obtained as a random drop from most activities and can be focused at the Star Chart in the HELM. This is the slightly less powerful little brother to the Mini-Tool. Personal favorite of Deltia.
CALUS Mini-Tool: Obtained through Opulent Chest the Derelict Leviathan and the Crown of Sorrow at the Helm. This weapon is one of the best add clear weapons in the game. Fast firing with a great perk pool. It's one worth grinding for. This is a craftable weapon.

Feeding Frenzy
Taipan-4fr: Obtained from random drops or can be focused at the Star Chart at the HELM. Can also be obtained by completing the Foundry Resonance quest at the Artifact at the Enclave. This is one of the better DPS weapons in the game and can be obtained easily. This is a craftable weapon.
Palmyra-B: Random drops and can be focused at Star Chart at the HELM. This is a craftable weapon. This is also great for burst bosses/champions and trash clears.
Thunderlord: Can be obtained from Xur or Random Exotic Engrams. Is given out at the Gift of the Thunder Gods Chest. A fantastic choice for most content, but lacks the big deeps of Linears and Rocket Launchers.

Hydraulic Boosters
Assassin's Cowl : Obtained by completing Shadowkeep Campaign. God tier survivability when you kill a target with powered melee. Just make sure to get the target (trash mob) to half health then Powered Melee for a finisher with huge heal/shields.
Liar's Handshake : Obtained by Exotic engrams; extremely rare world drops. This exotic works very well but slightly less effective as Assassin's Cowl.
St0mp-EE5 : Obtained by Exotic engrams; extremely rare world drops. Really this is a last resort option that boost mobility.

Armor Stats

Here is the priority of where we want our highest stats for this build. Pump up your resilience and then try to spread everything else out fairly evenly with spikes here and there. In order of importance: Stat distribution number goals
  • Mobility - ~100
  • Resilience - 80
  • Recovery - ~70
  • Discipline - ~40

Important Mods

Destiny 2 Lightfall Class Mods
Destiny 2 Lightfall Class Mods

Armor Modification Change: these mods will seem foreign to returning players with Lightfall changing the entire system.  The system you build around now is only orbs of power.  You also see an armor charge mechanic and some of the previous mechanics for generating orbs of power and previously used mods.  This system is evolving, and we will continue to make changes as we gain a better understanding of the new mod system. Here’s a list of all the current armor mods.

Artifice Armor Change: provides an extra +3 to whatever stat you want this should help you reach these stat goals.

Artifact Change: The artifact no longer provides mods instead it reduces the costs of some of the mods and provides passives as you level up and unlock them.  Season 20 Artifact.
